Max, ASTOUNDING!  and inspiring...  :)  Your photography is so good, that the viewer doesn't really get a concept of how incredibly small some of those parts are.  Brothers, this is N-SCALE...my hat is off to you Max!

First, THANK YOU.
Yes, this is something that I actually haven't been good about.   In this last photo set, I put that toothpick
in there with the coupler lift lever because I wanted to get that point across.  These parts are SMALL.
And it's hard to know just how small without any reference.   I have put a 00-90 screw into a few shots
for reference, but I should have done that a little more.   Speaking of size, as I worked on this last installment,
the photos really drove home to me how much smaller my little pipe hangers are than a handrail stanchion.  I wasn't
thinking about that when I made them or used them, but it really comes out in the photos.

Thanks again.   On to the tender.... almost home!

Very enjoyable thread, and excellent model work.  I love kitbashing/scratchbuilding threads.  I am hoping to build a CPR N2b Consolidation for my museum train so this thread is inspiring.

Thank you guys.  And remember, while compliments are wonderful to hear, I really just want to
show people what I'm doing, and hopefully they will have fun following along or maybe be inspired.
It is also very helpful and inspring to me when people make suggestions, criticisms, or just note things
that they like.  It helps me improve the model.  Even doing the chronical and taking all the photos
makes me look at what I'm doing in a better way to try to improve it.
This is Railwire, "We Don't Gush", as Peteski noted.
(Maybe that would make a good slogan for the banner across the top of the web page)

The goal of doing our modeling projects should be not to impress everyone else, but to impress ourselves.
That is, to be able to look back on a project we do and say, "Yeah, I did that.  I'm happy with that."
 "I tried my best."

This is why I like steam. It gets more and more mechanical with each update. It is turning into a living breathing machine.

Chris and Tony, you really are such kind fellows.  THANK YOU for all your encouragement.

Well, this project began on May 28.   Here we are, 6 solid months have gone by, and I believe that in that time period,
there are probably only about 10 days when I did not work on this engine.  Some days, I made one tiny piece, and on others I pulled 4-6 hour marathons, but it has been nearly every day.

It is ready for paint and decals.  The photos that follow show the final assemblies and details.    Some of these are much larger format
than the 12" wide pics I've been posting, to show the beast more completely.

I hope these aren't too disorganized.  I made a big push to get to this milestone today, so I am completely wiped out
and am heading to bed the moment after I post this.

In a week or so, it will be painted.  While it will be nice to have it all smoothed out, and all of its "battle scars", scratches, joints, sanding and filing marks gone, it will no longer be possible to see quite how it was made.  I'm always a little sad about that.

I still haven't ever used those rivets, but how did the decal flim work over the wood?
