Extremely upset with the decision to discontinue the Pactra, Floquil, and Polly Scale lines. Any one of those products sell more in our shop that the other lines combined. If you had to kill something, get rid ot the Aztec line or the junk basic enamles. They stagnate on the shelves at our hobbyshop. We are considering dropping the entire Testors line. You are killing the best products you make to keep the cheap stuff. We don't really have a need for it anymore.

It's gone.

It all comes down to one of two things:  1)  product liability or some EPA state or fed reg --some where someone sued over a child drinking one of these brands  or some state or fed EPA reg just made the manufacture of the paint impossible at a reasonable cost;  2)  profit--there is simply not enough profit in these lines of paint versus the liability of some child drinking some and getting sued over it.  Remember, if the auto were invented today, it would never see the light of day due to product liability issues.

Is it true that Testors is getting rid of the Polly S and Floquil lines? What gives? This is going to impact a huge group of folks that really enjoy using your products....

Let's see what happens....

All,

Actually, the posts are still there - but they are in a section called posts by others..  They "hide" them....

That sort of proves the point - if this was a decision you were proud of, in this day and age you'd engage your customers up front. Walther's does it all the time, no matter how hair brained their action.

Finally, the real reason manufacturers say they prefer Facebook to Forums.

I like this response on May 9th to the rumors about this.

I have an excellent color matching person at my LHS, which means local hardware store. He restores old cars as a hobby, and can pretty much match any swatch I bring in. Like DKS, I've worked in graphics for--gulp--47 years, starting as a color stripper in a printing plant at age 18, a great college job until I was old enough to work at the local brewery for a summer.

Having acquired all these brands, Testors is finding that it ain't easy to keep making money with them once the original owners pull away. I don't follow the corporate business of model paint, but if Testors is owned by a larger company (is it Rustoleum?), then they have found that they are the few drops of green in black paint for a company that prefers making black paint.

I think we are seeing the end to the 1 oz or smaller bottle. That won't bother me.

BTW, WEM (White Ensign Models) offers a very broad array of paint colors for military and ship models. I've found some of them are dead on for railroad colors.

I like clean air and such just as much as anyone else, but the shortsightedness of some special interest groups is apalling.

Yea, we'll just wait for the next generation to do it... yeesh.  Must not drink the punch...

I'll be moving to the True-Color paint, regardless if it's solvent-based.   It is the old AccuPaint formula, which I loved and used until it disappeared.  You can spray it thin and at low-pressure and it covers with a smooth finish.  And they had (and have) all of the New Haven colors, which was the reason I was attracted to the paint line originally.
