UH-Oh. Floquil and PollyS are going away

it looks like Testors Corporation is going to quit producing Floquil, PollyS and Patra paints. Don't know what they will do with Railroad style colors of if they will fold the coos into Testors or Model master.

And were did this rumor originate from?  They just introduced a new line of washes and colors, so this would be a rather shocking development.  I haven't seen anything on their website, but that doesn't mean much either...

I sent a note to Testors. We'll see if they have anything to add.

I have the same information from 3 different distributors.

We go through 20-30 cans of Pactra RC car paint a week at our shop, and order the Pollyscale bi-weekly to maintain stock. I can't believe that its not selling. Still waiting to hear back if the paint will continue under a new name or it is just plain gone.

Rich at Kenvil Hobbies tried to order EL grey for me.  It is discontinued.  Life as we know it is over.

Life as we know it is over.

Aw, man. Everything's going wrong for me.

Hmm... I invested Kiz's
retirement fund in banana
futures...

I also went to the website, sent a e mail inquiry as to what is going on. Are the rumors going to be quelled or comfirmed. So I will see if  they take the time to reply.

They were getting asininely expensive anyway.  For many applications where exact color matches weren't important, I'd already started using craft acrylics from Michael's.

Exact railroad colors, now...  That's gonna be tough.  Might be worth trucking my PolyScale collection to Michael's to do some comparisons...!

All is not lost. I just went to the Testors site, and the railroad enamels are still listed, with nary a "discontinued" label to be seen.

Hmm... but still no
banana yellow...

Dear Valued Partner,

I am writing to inform you about changes that are taking place at the Testor Corporation. For over 80
years, we have provided premium paints and finishing systems to the craft and hobby industry. Today,
we announced that we are transforming our business in order to more effectively address the changing
needs of our consumers and their interests.

We’ve made the decision to exit the following businesses within the Testor® Brand family - Pactra®,
Floquil®, Polyscale®, and ColorArtz®. This will enable the Testor Corporation to return to our foundation
of success – providing premium, innovative product that inspires creativity. We will continue to accept
orders and ship product for a limited time based on available quantities.

Going forward, the following brands will be critical to our success and development – Testor®, Model
Master™, and Aztek®. These brands will be infused with marketing support, innovation and operational
efficiencies.

In support of this, we have announced a consolidation of operations at our Rockford facilities. Over the
next several months we will provide updates critical to your order and delivery needs as well as product
availability. We assure you there will be no disruption to service during this transition.

Our commitment to the Testor brand has never been stronger. By implementing these changes, and the
ability to leverage all of Rust-Oleum’s world class services, we are more strongly poised to take your
business to the next level through product and merchandising innovations, and increased customer
intimacy. Please contact me or your sales manager directly with any questions.

We appreciate your business!

Best Regards,
Kristin J. Schiro
Director of Sales & Marketing

I've found Foquil's and Polyscale's BN green too light. From the samples scalecoat looks better, and I might be able to get something mixed as an enamel for me at a paint shop in town.

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

Sales are headed for the crapper, and we'd lose our shirts if we keep making these products. So, we're cutting back to the cheapest-to-produce lines.
