Sadly, we suddenly developed a schedule conflict. We were planning to be there one day or even both.

Curious, tho'... and I guess this is a question for Brandon. Is there another event in town for the weekend? I was making hotel reservations early last week and discovered that reasonably-priced accommodations were booked solid, at least on the west side of town near Hilliard. We were contemplating the wisdom of spending $150/night for a train show, albeit a good one.

There's a marathon in Columbus on Sat. AVOID Downtown Columbus at all costs...LOL.....Mike

I went last year but can't make it this year. :(

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Ah. It's a Komen event. Mygosh, yes, it's going to stress accommodations - 50,000 participants. Last year the show was the weekend before so you didn't get clobbered. Good luck!

Use I 270 and you can avoid downtown all together..
You`ll never find a Philly cheese steak on a menu in Philadelphia. It`s called a cheesesteak and we all know where it`s from...

The special rates for the Ohio N-scale Weekend expired on May 1.  I understand that Motel 6 still has rooms available for the weekend at their usual low rates.  There are many hotels in the area, check Hilliard exits of I-70 and I-270 and 20 minutes away is Grove City at I-71 and Stringtown Rd, avoid Dublin and Worthington as those rates will be higher than Hilliard and Grove City.

Just googled Komen and found that it is a 5k run/fitness walk with 50,000 expected participants.  Called one of the largest such events in the country for raising money for cancer research.

I'll be there Saturday afternoon.  My SO and I went two years ago and enjoyed it very much.

Well, I enjoyed it very much.  She's a good sport, but a whole weekend of train show and railfanning was a bit overkill for her.  I suspect she will drop me off and head for the shopping mall...

Unfortunately, this show is way out of my usual territory, so I wouldn't be able to make it, but I do recall seeing photos from a previous Columbus N Scale Weekend where someone had built a very nice Milwaukee Road rotary plow and support train, including a couple of long cabooses...

If anyone sees it again at the show, or knows who built, by all means get details and photos of how they mastered the project, because an accurate Milwaukee Road rotary snowplow, would really fit my bill.

It sounded like a good idea at the time... too bad the caboose wasn't in on the plan.

ARRGGGHHHHH!

One of these years, the time-money continuum will coincide with this event.
Heck, My sister lives in Westerfield, could just crash there!

I suggest that all of you who are attending parouse the Gary & Gene Trains tables whilst there. They tend to cary some older items. You might find something unique that you have been searching for.

Buffering...

I just got back from the show and want to say what a great time I had.  This was my first time there, even though I live in the area.  Some the N-Trak modules I saw were fully animated and really well done.  It was obvious that the creators put a lot of time and effort into them.
I also had a nice talk with Pete Nolan and got to see his ships up close.  Makes me wish I modelled a little closer to open water.

I also met Pete, really liked the ships. The ore carrier is massive ! It would make a really great ore dock scene.....Mike

I met Pete too; his ships are outstanding.  Good thing the territory I model is 300 miles from any ports that had tugs!

Had a good time at the dinner and auction - spent more than I sold but most of what I spent went to the group that takes care of the Marion depot and AC Tower (essentially an Erie / EL museum), so it was for a good cause.  My SO also enjoyed the dinner and the auction.

There were some good prices at many of the vendor tables and some very nice modules.  Looking forward to Bedford!
