No store I've ever been to has what I would consider a "LOT".   I do recall a vendor at the OKC show some years back that had a lot, but even if I knew the name then I doubt I would have remembered it, and I'm guessing it was a show-only/basement type of shop anyway.   I know one dealer who normally has some Dash 9 parts and maybe a few other assorted Kato parts.

I guess the question would be...something particular you are looking for?   Good chance even the "LOT" shop would have every part except the one you need most.
NOTE: I'm no longer active on this forum.   If you need to contact me, use the e-mail address (or visit the website link) attached to this username.  Thanks.

Best source is kATO themselves. All available parts are on on the website.

modeltrainstuff.com carries quite a few Kato parts (at a discounted price).  But I still get most of the parts from Kato USA directly. Their online ordering system is great!

Was checking Kato today to see what parts would interest me and I couldn't find  a listing anywhere.

Listing? Not sure what you mean.  Go to http://katousa.com/parts-catalog/information.html  and search for "n-scale".

I went to Katousa and could not find anything for parts.  I've ordered parts from them before and I guess I just didnt look hard enough.

Top of the main page, under "Purchase" pulldown select Kato Direct - Parts.
Or, go to the very bottom of the main page then click on "Purchase Parts" link.

Same here.  I use the katousa website, and don't know of any shops that routinely stock lots of their parts.

I have been lucky at a few train shows, and come across vendors who had several large cardboard boxes
just chock full of Kato parts, all randomly just thrown together.  I was happy to pick through the box, but most
of the stuff was undec diesel shells and diesel trucks.   I did pick up packets of crankpins and a few bits and pieces to
the Mikado, but generally, the steam stuff was nil.   Oh... they also tended to have lots of sets of idler and other intermediate
gears for the diesels.

But there is no source that I "go to" that always has such a stash.  These were purely one-shot lucky finds at train shows.

If any shop has parts in stock, they are older leftovers. As far as I know, Kato no longer sells parts to shops at a discount. They have to pay the same price the consumer does.

And that is incorrect.

Kato does sell parts to stores at a discount assuming the store has an account with them...

That MODEL TRAIN store that sells STUFF has quite a few parts at discounted prices.  I could have saved some $ on my first order.  I will check there next time.  I dont have a problem with Kato at all other than parts being sold out.  Thanks to all.
