Wow!

What, when, where, how did you get that! I've wanted those for a long time! Please give some more details.

Thanks,
Erik

Very nice work indeed! Good blog too. Are these 'Shapeways' and will they be available for sale?

Cheers,

Kev

The contours on the side and the lack of complex curvature hide the striation really well.   That's one of the nicest renderings and finishing I've seen.  Really nice detail on the cad model too (I can tell by the results).  The crank rod for the cover and the mudflaps look great too.  Assume the crank is wire, what are the flaps made of?

LOVE that LNT 9000 tractor in front!   I designed some chassis parts on that truck back in the late 80's.

I've been working on this project for a couple of months now, most of which was learning software and creating the drawing.  The print was made by Shapeways, which many folks are getting familiar with.  Somewhat expensive, even for our 1/160 models, but not unreasonable.

I'll be posting a lot more details on my blog in the future about my 3D experiences.  I already have 2 more trailer versions that need paint and details.  I am also working on some other related models.  It's a lot like my lumber load obsession months ago.

I had high expectations for this project, and so far I am quite satisfied.  Thanks for the comments.

Very nice. With those ridges it seems almost perfect to use with Shapeways and not have to worry about he "layered" look.
I WANNA SEE THE BOAT MOVIE!

That trailer is fantastic! :o

If (and when) they figure out how to get the flat surfaces totally smoothed out, Katie bar the door!

This technology will change everything!

That trailer is fantastic.  Clearly, 3D printing can be used with spectacular results, but I think in this case the excellent finish makes the difference.  Bravo!
