That would have entertained the crap out of me as a kid.

I don't think it's being billed as a hyperrealistic model railroad, so I'm not gonna judge.  Now, if that guy were all up in here talking smack about his skillz, we'd be having a different conversation.

I'll give the guy credit for some pretty impressive woodworking, and I'll bet it's entertaining as heck to watch a dozen-plus trains looping back-and-forth.

I think there is actually quite a bit of skill on display in this pike, if you're willing to think of it as a kind of kinetic sculpture, or a marble maze, as Karin notes.  While it's not something I'd ever want to build myself, I think it's kind of cool.

Says 32 loops , so I am guessing 32 individual circuits ..... 32 trains , and 1 neighborhood brown-out .

It is surprising to me as well that someone comment this reminded them of an old Lionel layout. I had the same first impression and at age 73 remember two men in my home town who had such Lionel layouts.  Each just had a flat table with no scenery, but lots of track. Only in recent years, did I learn that both men had railroad connections in their life; one had been a brakeman until he lost his leg in a railroad accident and the other man's father was the local B&O agent/station master.
Until recently, I was not aware that anyone still enjoys that time of "train set up."  I met two gentlemen who showed me photos on their cell phone of a similar set up where 9 n-scale trains could run simultaneously.  :)  So those set ups of 60 years ago do still exist!
