Mike,Thanks again. I took the locomotive apart last night and applied some oil. I ran the locomotive in each direction for twenty to thirty minutes to break it in. It's much quieter. In fact, it's so noticeably less noisy that I think the mechanism must have not only been underlubed, but practically dry. Now, it doesn't seem much louder than a standard Atlas locomotive, so I am very pleased.DFF
