@cbroughton67 I haven't tried chucking anything in the drill yet, but do you know if the collets work with those small bits?

Initially, I picked up a pack of Dremel collets and used the smallest one. It worked pretty well, but it occasionally had issues gripping a #79 or #80 bit. So, I switched out the collet for a 1/8" one and use a mini-chuck I picked up either on eBay or Micro-Mark. It has a 1/8" shaft and does a better job of gripping a #80 bit. I'd like to figure out how to adapt a Dremel chuck to the drill - that would be the best option of all, IMO. I may have to try the pencil drill. I've never had issues with the pistol-grip Tamiya drill, and the idea of a pencil-grip setup sounds awkward to me, but I'm certainly willing to give it a try. @Lemosteam I hope you're able to find the link to the build for the screwdriver drill! :-)

@cbroughton67 , I did , but @up1950s s pictures will not display any longer and most of the banter ther is rather esoteric.

What I did was I found an inexpensive 1/8 hex x 1/4 hex bit and chucked the 1/8 side into my drill press and filed the corners of the 1/4 hex.

https://www.amazon.com/Irwin-Tools-92423-Insertbit-585-92423/dp/B001HWNPRU/ref=sr_1_31?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1505532029&sr=1-31&keywords=1%2F4+x+1%2F8+hex+bit

After rounding the 1/4 hex just a bit, testing fit to the hole in the chuck because I wanted a light fit, I pressed the 1/4 end into the this chuck with some epoxy for good measure:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0047WPAMU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The General drill is a 1/8 hex socket on the end of the output shaft so I simply epoxied the chuck/bit assembly into the end of the drill  the flats on the hex allow for a 1/4" open end wrnch if you really need to tighten the knurled chuck.

Yeah , when Google took claim to my photos and jumbled all of them and with no sort by description it pissed me off enough I made all my albums private . It would take a year to straighten things out and even then it would suck . If you can't sort by description it like throwing pictures in a barrel which is useless to my needs . Anyhow , here is the shot of that great for plastics when using itsy bitsy tiny weeny bits .

With such a long shaft to the collet, is there any problem with wobble?
If there is, I'd be worried of drilling a #70 hole with a #80 bit.

At its slow RPS ( about 3 ) it works well enough for me . Yes there is wobble , quite a bit , but its my best for gnats a$$ sized holes in plastic I have ...... so far .

This might be the answer to my Tamiya Handy Drill chuck dilemma...

@cbroughton67 I think they make a 1/8 x 1/8 as well.

Got my workbench set up! It's not pretty, and it smells like cat piss, but it works.

I am posting a list of projects that I need to finish!

Weather a K4 for Beezer
Build 2 Streamlined K4s
Finish 11 HGM kits for Ed and Eric.
Secret Baconrail 1 project.

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

So, upon further investigation, there is what looks like a crater of crystallized cat piss under my bench. I'm gonna have my landlord remove that. Also one of the murder rooms also smells like cat piss.

All this in addition to an upstairs bedroom that also smelled of cat piss.

WTF is wrong with people?

How do you not smell that?

That is why we empty both litter boxes every day in this house.   :?

You apparently did and still rented the place or maybe you didn't at the time?

You asked if it was "pet friendly" right?  That sealed your doom.

We were in a situation where we had to find a place very quickly.  We didn’t really catch this stuff in the basement until a few hour days ago.
Our cats didn’t do this.
My commentary is more about how can you let your cat pee THAT MUCH THAT OFTEN? and not notice it immediately?
We have 2 cats and 3 litter boxes ourselves and never had a problem.

Remember these are rooms in the basement that we don’t often go to. We were only using it for storage but when we did a pivot on house buying strategy, we decided to stay here longer and save more cash. Since we were gonna stay longer, I decided to set up my train stuff.
