PWRS/NARC Has Magnetic Air Lines Coming....

See the rest of the story here: http://www.pwrs.ca/announcements/view.php?ID=7440

Interesting idea, but we'll see how well they are accepted by the community.  First in HO scale and then to N and others.

Awesome.

But... to be honest, IMO it's just a bit incongruous that this giant tree-trunk descends from the heavens to uncouple the couplers.

That was in a Kalmbach MR book from 1965 "764 Helpful Hints for Model Railroaders"
on page 4 [1-32] by Jack Flynn. Shows there is not much new.

Pity they don't use the magnetic uncoupling feature of the couplings.

Problem will be PWRS/NARC has a pricing structure that's not very friendly to the wallet of someone in need of bulk purchasing such a product for installation on a fleet.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

That's pretty neat. I won't be using any, though. I wonder how far the uncoupled car(s) will be dragged along before the magnet is overpowered and the cars separate in N scale.

Hmm... what happens if
the cars are pulled over
an uncoupling magnet...?

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

When they carry REAL compressed air and operate the brakes, let me know....

Just kidding - this is kind of cool, but I cannot see myself wanting to deal with this...

It's neat idea, but I wonder how they will react to the under track magnets.
Will they be pulled to one side far enough that they will not come back together?

This.

Sad to see PWRS get hold of this.   That just means it will never be practical price-wise assuming they do get a patent on it.

So I'll probably be dead before it comes to the masses.

While it's a neat idea this is where I say that this is a "bridge too far" for my modeling interest..... but a neat idea lla the same.
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Awesome, can't wait to try this out in N.  Lots of innovation coming out of PWRS, Prairie Shadows and other Canadian companies.

It's all the price of doing business- some people have to complain about everything it seems.

I was wondering about that myself. There has to be SOME kind of reaction to the magnets over an uncoupling magnet, and with really free rolling cars,it just HAS to drag a single car along without uncoupling. It may work in HO,but in N,I kinda doubt it..

I would think you need to forgo the use magnetic uncoupling in order for these to work. Cut the trip pins off to get rid of the extra hoses and use a pick like in the video.

It's neat, but flighty.
