Body mounts on the Walthers Greenville Hoppers

A quick conversion using the MT 905.  Just drill a hole through the metal underframe and add BLMA trucks to bring the car to the proper height.

No filing of bolsters necessary!

Comparison with the out of the box model:

Did I miss the ballast car conversion?   It looks like the same concept might work like the Greenville's, although eyeballing it looks as if the 905's will hit right on the edge of the metal, like the old MDC boxcars used to.

Have I missed something? How do you get the bogies off without destroying the pin?

Are you talking about the pin shearing off when you try to "rock it" out?   I wasn't sure if that was a universal issue...I've not been able to remove the trucks from my Walthers Greenville's without them breaking.   I've only tried it twice, but I decided I would retire from that activity until a better plan was found.   It almost seems like they've glued them in.

Of the two that I converted, I did break one pin; but they didn't seem to be glued in place- just really tight.

I have a pair of tweezers that looks like a hockey stick. I use it to pry off trucks, putting one side of the tweezers on each side of the bolster pin and then gently adding pressure to the end of the tweezers.

Hmm... be sure not to
let the bolster pin fly off
into space...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
