The S.

Yep. They're a real small class, but I have to have one just because it's so damned cool.

Let me be specific: I'm asking about the G32C  :D

The G32C will follow the KV Caboose.

Might be fun to build ANOTHER KV.   Scott, is the body open on the bottom so it can be lighted?
Don't forget to mention where to get the proper E-L DL&W decals !!

Greg, you can get in there to light the caboose.  The tolerances are nice and tight between the body and the frame so it is not necessary to glue it all together.  It will hold together on its own.  The cabooses will come with their own decals but if you want to do some of the strange variants of paint schemes Paul T's decal set will be necessary.

Looking at my design for City Yard in Scranton, it is quite possible that there might not be enough room for all the cabooses I want!

Kidding aside, this is the best thing to come along for EL/DLW modelers in a long time.  Conrail guys too!

The original location for the DL&W car shops was Keyser Valley which is in Scranton.  In the 50's those shops were closed down and work moved to other locations.  These cabooses were built in the Keyser Valley shops prior to them closing.  The frames were from retired steam locomotive tenders which made them excellent in the helper districts.  They could be shoved on because of the strength of the frames.  The cabooses that were replaced by these cabooses were of wooden construction and had to be removed from the hind end when helpers were added.

Kind of unusual, also, was that some of the Erie hacks that made it into EL were also made in the Erie Dunmore shops, which were also located in the Keyser Valley in Lackawanna County.Dunmore is just outside Scranton. Both shops were only a few miles from me.

Thanks for the info.  Historical reference always welcomed.

Are these the cabooses that Conrail wanted to dispose of as they thought they were too light and fragile till they found out about the tender frames?

Yes, these are the cabooses.

Decals will be included with the kit and contain enough data to represent at least two variations of each scheme.  They are compatible with the Prime Mover Decals DL&W and EL sets, so the PMD sets can be used to augment the number of possible KV schemes for those who wish to have more than a couple of cabooses in the same scheme.
