Look for Federal Yellow.

It used to be or still may be available in spray bombs from all of the usual suspects, Krylon, Rustoleum and the like.

For airbrush application, I would think Railbox Yellow would be close.

Basically I think it is a chrome yellow , like taxicabs and unfaded glossyish UP diesels .

add a drop or 2 of Caboose Red . Or you can start with Reefer Yellow and add 2 drops of Caboose Red . Be careful if it is flat it will perk up after clear coats . Scalecoat shinny stuff may be a choice . Easy peasy to mix your own Dan , it's all about how many drops of red , mix shy , let dry , clear coat as decals require , let dry , give it your eye , add more as needed . There are many shades of school bus yellow on the road . Almost impossible to be out of bounds . Probably the easiest color to mix .

Eh... I have had issues mixing paint before. I'm just a touch color blind and always seem to get it a shade or two off. The other issue came up after mixing paint for the Quaboag engine: if you custom mix paint till it looks right, then the paint dries out after the model is finish, you will never be able to cone up with the correct mix for touch up work.

There should be SBY in something like Testors for model car painting, Ford called it Grabber Orange. 

Back in the 69-70s Trans Am racing series, Bud Moore painted a Boss 302 Mustang in school bus yellow; won the championship in 1970, I think. Ford going off the publicity of this offered it on production Boss 302s, but couldn't call the color SBY, so they called it Grabber Orange.  The new 302s also come in it, but I'm not sure if it's total match to the original T/A cars.

Hornwrecker I was thinking the same.  I used to call it road stripe yellow.  90 something 'vette  had the color too, always wanted one.  Testors might have the color that's close.

If you look at http://www.testors.com/category/136964/Lacquers , Grabber Orange is listed as one of the available colors. But to me, Chrysler Yellow looks more like the right color.

Disclaimer: As we already discussed it in another thread, Testors websites color rendition is very iffy. Better to check the color at the hobby shop.

Grabber orange is not true SBY as no car can be painted SBY per Federal Safety regulations. I wonder if a 50/50 mix of Chrysler yellow and Grabber orange might work.

One other thing about yellow, I find that it's the most transparent color, difficult to get good coverage when airbrushing.  I've screwed up a few paint jobs before I learned to first lay a good base coat of white down before the yellow.

I'm wondering if a different color base coat could make one of these other yellows approximate SBY, if nothing else could be found. Reefer orange base with a yellow over it?  Sounds like too much work, though.

You can get School bus yellow in waterbased Acrylic from Hobby Lobby,Micheal's or any other craft store.
The brand I have is FolkArt #4016 School Bus Yellow.

National School Bus Chrome Yellow is the term. NAPA can make you a small spray can of it. I buy it in their gallon cans as it is what we spray as a "MOW" color on the speeders and other equipment.
