Gotta agree with Ed on this one. BUT I will put in a switch like the proto type for the SW 1500 they have. The real power plant has like 4 or so tracks anyway.

So I tore down and tossed the 4x8 table that was in the middle of the room. It was basically a storage table for model kits. Now the model kits are slowly going back to the home in the other room where I store everything. I put legs on the HCD today and moved it into the middle of the room where it will be staying. I have not extended the legs yet but I will when time permits along the line of how DFF did his. You never really know how much stuff you have after 30+ years until you try to clean it up. How did it all get into the house? I have only been here 11 years. LOL

Anyone use another HCD for a center divider? Issues with weight? Keeping it stable? I was thinking about sinking it into the foam and securing it with small angle brackets and screws. Also foam built up will help that. Its a 24" door, so 22" will be above the level of the layout. Im thinking thats a good height for a divider. Thoughts?

Lee Weldon did.  He used a 12" or 15" HCD as the divider of a peninsula on his WM Western Lines layout.  If you search the photos on his website, I'm sure you'll find pictures.  It worked fine, although a number of us suggested that it could have been taller.  I think a 22" divider should be sufficient.

I think it should work. I will notch out the foam on the table down to the HCD and then just notch out where the tracks will cross through and I should have a winner. I would like to set it an an angle, but doing so would leave a inch or so space between the edge of the backdrop and the edge of the table. Or leave it flush and maybe make one side wider than the other, just by moving the backdrop

Finalizing the Mt Tom area. Not sure if I want (like) the customer track with the temp blue building. Its is suppose to be Mt Tom Box Co. which is about 3.4 a mile North of the power plant. No room other than to put it there with the switch off the power plant. If I put the switch off the main, the curve to the building is too sharp and too close to the main. Maybe I will get rid of it all together. But I like the extra real time customer. The divider went in last night. Looks so different now.
