They will all be offered as singles after this first go around is my understanding.  I think the requests from the guys who model this period were for a as many cars in different road names as possible since this is a first for the era.   The initial batch is tied to the Smithonian program, hence the set.

Cheers

When I was at my LHS a month or so ago she called MTL to ask how they were offering them: singles? sets? how reserve?
MTL didn't know the answer to any of those questions.
But that was a couple months ago.

Personally I'm hoping they're offered as singles (or runner packs without the locos), and with bulk packs of the rigid trucks sans couplers.
in my civvies here.  I only represent my grandmothers home made Mac and Cheese on Railwire.

What's aggravating is that  this was pointed out to them on this very forum when they showed test shots.  What's more aggravating is that it's an error that is EASILY corrected in tooling (i.e, cut the existing mold path deeper till it matches the outside).  Oh well... another car to add to my list

Joe,

As far as the confederate railroads go, you have over thirty to choose from if this era catches on.

I'm in.

The new boxcar looks great, thanks Joe and everyone else at Micro-Trains for continuing to bring top quality models to N scale, and still making them in the US.
I’m not here to argue

Whats up with the Civil War cars?  Won't they be regular cars when in stock or are the limited edition? I would like some, but don't want to reserve.

Chris,

I'd provide a direct link but the Shapeways site is down.  There's a vendor there that's doing a variety of well crafted Civil War era cars.  When it's back up, I think a search for "Baltimore & Ohio" will find them, or PM me and I'll shoot you a link when I can.  But I saw them and immediately had a desire to model a small layout featuring the town I grew up in (Ellicott City MD) set in that era.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

I have seen them and might get a few to mix with the MT cars.

^ I know Mark Watson over on Trainboard does some of the Civil War stuff.  I've heard good things about his Shapeways stuff.
