Single or multi-color passenger vehicle multi-packs?

In light in the recent discussion of the CMW announcement I would like to learn about the Railwire member's opinions.
I purposely specified passenger vehicles because I can see that people might want to buy models like trucks in the same color (to model vehicle fleets).

I voted for multi-colors per pack.

Great idea, peteski!

Can you change the selection to include "individual vehicles" (singles instead of doubles)? That would be my first choice. Second, of course, would be multi-color.

The idea of single vehichles was brought up before to CMW and the cost would about 75% of a two pack for a single car. Packaging and inventory control are as much of the price as the actual product. I don't think many people would be OK with paying $10-12 per car when 2 packs retail at around $14-16 now. I would be happier with a larger bulk pack. You can always find an empty spot in a parking lot for the extra cars you don't want to showcase. This comes from experience with a good sized HO layout with close to 300 vehichles on it. You have to duplicate to fill up the lots, there is just no way around it.

I felt the survey choices were too limited.

I'd prefer two different colours in a 2-pak (preferably not random).

In any case I'd pick random multipaks over single colours any day.

The choices are too limited because they don't include what CMW is actually doing.  :?

The new two packs are set colors; blue/red, green/grey etc..  Its not random.

I guess I'd like to see it almost random.  Most cars today are sold in white, silver, and blue/black so if a pack of say ten came with 3/2/2/1/1/1 white/silver/blue/black/green/red it would be fairly accurate.  Maybe have a set with a red and one with yellow.    I'm trying to find room for an auto transload facility so I would need LOTS of the same make/model/color cars to fill it.

How about more than 2 small cars from CMW in each pac?  If packaging is that expensive why not have a 4 pac of 4 differant cars? or a 6 pack?

I like it the way they offer their latest announcements:  different colors and clearly specified which color.  What led me to buying two packs with different colors.  Since I have to buy mail-order, there is no chance to check the stuff in the shop before.
I would also support "big packs" with more than two cars.

Multi makes sense.  Personally, I'd like to see a minimum of 3 packs.

How about, doubles, triples ,quads, and sextets in multiple colours of course. Most folks could afford doubles and maybe triples but if your on SS the money is much tighter.

How about bugging CMW to do some two door cars. Chrysler did sell them in the early 50s and some of them were rather unique.

You guys are right - I messed up the survey choices.  Random was not the best description.  Some manufacturers do pack some items in multi-pack blisters and they randomly include colors or types of items while selling them all using a single part number.  But with today's ever-increasing numbers of online shopping hobbyists (there are less and less local hobby shops where randomly packed multi-packs could be "fondled" to pick the desired ones)  it makes perfect sense to have multi-colored packs with predefined colors and separate part numbers.

I'll edit the word "random" from the survey choice.

Also, since the packaging costs so much I would be a bug fan of larger multi-packs (with different color vehicles of course). I would like to see 4, 8 and even 12 packs of cars. It would be nice to see multiple kinds (models, makes) of cars in multi-packs but that ight be going a bit too far in complicating things.  I am also speaking as a modeler where a variety if a good thing. But as for the collectors of N scale vehicles, multi-packs might not be something they would desire.

Too bad that the members who voted for the same color in a package did not also post their reasons.  Were they scared of being tared and feathered by the  forums :ashat:S  ?

While I was in Japan I found a few vehicle packs set up just as you describe, multiple makes and colors.  I picked up a four pack of Toyota.  They also had multiple eras and passenger/commercial/heavy equipment packs set up the same way.
