Was kind of hoping you would get back into the passenger car business again.

Never abandon hope.

I do have that D&H car drawing in digital format if you need it.

I'm interested.  Your earlier NYC assumption was correct.  I've got photo confirmations of the following roads for the GSC 60-ton well flat: D&H, NYC, LV, PC.  That means CR by extension.  Cross referencing the cars in the Heavy Capy and Special Type Flat Cars section of the 1963 and 1988 ORER confirms all the dimensions are exact for those.  There don't appear to have been any additional original buyers.  All that is left for me to learn is the disposition of the D&H cars, to see if they ended service with another road.  But this prototype appears to be a viable prospect.

Other parts of the country?  I model the GN/BN in Montana, 1974, so don't need PRR/NYC/PC cars, right?  But it seems that every mainline train out there has at least one PRR/NYC/PC car in it!  I also remember them, especially the PRR and PC, being common sights in the NP/BN Pasco yard.  There were simply so many PRR/NYC/PC cars, and they served much of the US heavy industry, that they couldn't help but turn up nation wide.  So, in a sense, ESM IS serving the other parts of the country.

I'm pretty sure Bryan was referring specifically to the ex-PRR ore jennies being a very region-specific prototype, and he is indeed correct about that.

The ore Jennys were kind of region specific from the lakes to Pittsburgh until the ore ran out and then they ran from the eastern seaboard to Pittsburgh. They look great Allen but I am waiting for the next run of F25s. That will do me for a little while.

More Pennsy Bryan or the WM well.

How about some Minnesota or UP (that's Upper Peninsula UP) variety ore cars instead of that east coast junk?   :D

Far as I'm concerned, Atlas ore cars handle the UP stuff.

If you put it so obtusely, one passenger car could represent all of them.

If someone were to make a truck with a 5' wheelbase, maybe we'd see more ore cars.

Someone on Shapeways did do a CNW car.

Jason, I got a message below your post about malware and the fact it could infect your computer.  Did anyone else get this?

It's what my screen says any time I try to go to a thread that Ian has posted to.  I just made it a joke footer image.  I wasn't thinking that it could come off differently.

Sorry for the confusion.

Sean:  True, on the ore jennies.  My comment was intended more to answer Dave Vollmer's post, in which he seemed to say that other parts of the country didn't need to be addressed.  Given the pervasive nature of the PRR/PC, their cars, in general, are needed nationwide.

Nick, did you just use "PRR/PC" and "pervasive" in the same sentence?  :D :D

Sounds good to me.  I look forward to what you will be offering.

More Pennsy Bryan or the WM well.

Keep buying X58s.  That's where the bulk of the Pennsy will be in the immediate future.

Dave was being facetious more than anything else.

I've settled on a prototype.  Thanks to all for providing needed input.

Lemosteam:  Yes, I did.  Their cars seemed to be everywhere, at least up to the formation of Conrail.

Bryan:  I assumed he was, but in this case, he was also fairly accurate.  Since  the PRR/PC cars are so common, accurate models of them are useful to every modeller within their era.  Fox Valley seems to be doing the Milwaukee and Soo Line, you're doing the Northeast, Trainworx seems to be covering the D&RGW.  Maybe that's the trend for the next generation, manufacturers concentrating on a railroad or region, and doing the most accurate models practical.
