Oh man, definitely a sad day, right?

I might have missed it, but... what's next?

so... I admit... I am very late to this party... I mean really late... as in never read this thread late....  but... I can tell you...  that pic of the power headed out of town is very classy.  A nice way to wrap up the thread.

I'm going to make time to go back and read this thread over the holiday.  It appears to be some wonderful work.

Wish I had the funds and ability to come down, disassemble, move and reassemble this layout.  I'm trying to find reason for some of the structures to find their way onto the Hanover Sub.  Can't wait to see your efforts in HO.

Heck of a nice layout with a lot of care & thought put into it.

I know what kind of investment in dollars, effort and time it takes to build a layout like this.

Sorry to see it come down.  :(

As the others have said "A sad day in the N scale community"
Hate to see it go.
But thanks for the inspirations of your plywood buildings along with all the other modeling!!

Good luck with your next layout!

Just a note to close out my layout blog.....

Last March, an exponentially deteriorating work environment pointed to an inevitable move. I stopped working on the railroad – why bother if I’d be dismantling it on the way out of town anyway. I continued to run trains, but even so my interest and enthusiasm waned as the end seemed near. I was spending a fraction of the time in the train room that I typically did.  I’d been contemplating a switch to HO for quite some time, but never seriously. Naturally I was reluctant to dismantle my creation and it’s also not an inexpensive decision. But then I picked up a dozen or so HO freight car kits, bought a pair of code 83 switches to make some templates on the copy machine and started toying with track planning ideas. Each week I picked up a couple of lengths of flex track. This at least had me doing something, I always enjoyed track-planning. I figured up until I made the first cut in the existing layout, I could always back-off and sell whatever HO materials I had purchased.

Then the situation at work improved dramatically in August. There was a re-org and the writing was instantly on the wall for my two bosses (two of the most despicable individuals to ever walk the earth). One was fired in September and the other one gets closer to the door each day. The under/over on this jerk is the end of the year. This caused me to abandon plans to change jobs and possibly/probably move. This rejuvenated my interest in the hobby and I decided to switch and started selling some of my N-scale.

I decided not to photographically document and/or post the disassembly. I’d rather the layout passed on looking good.

Lastly, I’d like to thank everyone for their kind comments these last few years. It’s always good to have those who know what they’re looking and have been there – done that compliment your work.

I will be starting a new layout thread to chronicle the new HO railroad. Hope to see you there.

Glad to hear your work situation improved. Life's too short to suffer a miserable work environment.

Very sorry to see this layout go. It's been a big inspiration. Looking forward to seeing what you do in HO!
