the photo I am working from shows no support.....I've been contemplating adding a center support for each, but i'll probably never get around to it. the scene is "good enough" as is and I have more to do elsewhere...

I think I know which photo you've been working from. Your scene looks impressively like the opening shot in that article on modern paper mills.

Getting back to work on the bridge module of the new branch...made the center pier with the same floral foam/drywall compound method...

Thanks. It's scratch built, unfortunately I don't have any under construction photos. It's built in 2 pieces, the long section and the peaked section on the left. I used the solid wood method I showed earlier in the thread.
here's the only photos I have showing the entire building....

What a great building!!! Is it possible for you to post some of the sizes of this building! I know it is scratchbuilt, but ts is very inspirational! :)

Thank you!

I hope you don't mind, a little "shopping" to add lights to the lead locomotive.

The short peaked section at far left is 2-1/2 inches wide x 1-5/8" deep. The long section is 12" along the foundation.
It's 7/8" from the face of the short section to the face of the long section.
Overall height is 3-1/4"

Thanks Jesse....it does look better with the lights. I didn't notice they were dark.....it was a posed shot, not a running shot, so the light wasn't on.....

Agree with Philip, maybe a little darker and a little more pronounced and you'll have it.

What Allen said.  By the way, I just figured out what that funky pattern is on the closest pier in the photo photo: the shadow of a telephone pole.

Agree;  The darkened areas on the prototype are pretty opaque, filling in mortar lines, etc. but there is spalling also going on; it looks on the model more like it was blotted on more randomly.  Give it another go-round on both counts (dark grime and oozing lime) and I think it will look better.
