Wanted: Load ideas for flat cars

Our Division Superintendant looked around the yard today and was miffed to see a number of standard flat cars with nowhere to go because they were empty.....he's looking for new business ideas... :|

Anyone got any bright ideas for some unique flat car loads....?  :?
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

What about some freight car trucks or a body shell?

you could use the GHQ combine as a load over two cars..one with the combine and it's wheels (removed for overhead clearance) and the other car with the rake portion and a wooden box crate...for pictures of that load you could find it in N Scale Magazine May/June 2004 on pg.30-33

After I personally saw a US Air Force GE 44-tonner as a flatcar load a few years back, critters on flatcars have become favorites.

Remember I made the resin kits for 70-tonners before Bachmann ever did.  One of the offshoots of that was a replacement lightweight resin frame so that you could use the kit as a flatcar load.

Also did this with my EMC Model 40.

While chasing UP 844 in Iowa last week, I caught an F unit spread over two flats on a mixed freight.  Don't we all have old junker F-units we could do this with?  ;)

Here's 3 run-bys at the end of the video (at ~9:40).

I have a fractioning tower project that will span 4 flat cars (part of two 50'-ers and two 30'-ers) being made from styrene tubing.
I'm also starting a very large steam-ship boiler that will go on a depressed center flat car.

You could also take a hopper car and take the trucks and couplers off and put them on some 89' flats. I saw the same setup with ATSF hoppers on CSX train somewhere in Maryland or PA.

Seeing that the PV is based out west, near Trail (closer than Peterborough at least), you might consider a flat for copper anodes. CP likely didn't have any, but hey, modelers license. Slap some Cominco reporting marks on them.

After large wrecks you often see the damaged cars returning for repairs or maybe scrapping on-board flatcars.

An interesting point, in this day and age, the easiest way to move an older switcher (even if it runs), often IS on a flatcar.

Interesting since NS MP15-DC 2411 that went in for part of the rehaul program was towed in behind the motive power of a general manifest.
Sadly 2411 was and/or still is in RC-service... and happens to be the atlas unit that i own... not exactly pleasing...

That's a bit different though, since the NS MP15 is still an active NS unit. I think Ed is thinking more of older retired units, like you might see being shipped to a museum or tourist operation. These may not be as recently maintained, or, horrors, might actually have plain bearings instead of roller bearings, in which case the railroad won't touch it on its own wheels.
