I found the article:  Model Railroading, May and June 1996.  There are various ends and side panels, so some research would have to be done before picking up undecs and custom painting them.

Conrail acquired ex-DTI and ex-ROCK cars, but the number series of the ex-ROCK cars acquired is different than the number series used for the first Trainworx release and have a different AAR designation.

Did any of the ex-Rock gons purchased by Conrail in 1980 get an interim patch scheme?  I haven't found one yet but that would be fun to model.

Ah, GN cars for sure then.  I hope soon, though Pat says he's no production scheduled out yet after the first release. But he's good at getting the product to market, despite my budget's whining.

In regards to the Conrail cars listed in the MRing article.  The ex-Rock cars were class G52E's acquired in late 85.  The ex-DTI cars are GX-52-A's acquired in late 91 / early 92.  Conrail did also acquire another group of ex-Rock cars sometime in the 90's.  This batch of cars is a match for the TW car I believe.  These were paint outs of the Rock cars.  Conrail was not the first user of these ex Rock cars.  Someone used them before Conrail, and then Conrail picked them up.  There was a discussion regarding these cars on the Yahoo Conrail Modeler's Group a little while ago.  Also, is the TW car not the same car that Exactrail just released in HO?  If so, you might want to look at the Exactrail HO models to see what some of the paint schemes will look like.  The Conrail paint out RI cars are particularly nice.  For me, they will be too new.  I will be saving my money for ESM's G32's and G36's.  Thank you.

It's a prototype that hasn't been released in N, so this is a new model.  The "duplicate/copycat" statement is inaccurate.  That's clearly obvious given that there currently is but one 52' gondola on the market in the form of BLMA's ACF prototype.

I see in the RMJ article a picture of one of the DT&I cars, which Conrail later acquired, and it appears to match the TWX model.  So I look forward to the eventual Conrail release.  A Conrail Ex-ROCK paintout also would be cool.  Are there any online photos of CR ex-ROCK paintout gons?

Atlas's Thrall 4743 is 52' too.

I can only assume that Larry is talking about EXR's car in HO and that they'll make it in N at some point.

Indeed it is.  My oversight.
