Great! I love the Santa Fa versions, especially the B-Unit. Really well done! I always thought the veranda turbines did look the best, but they look even better in SF colours.

Also like the long haul super tanker tender.

Also agree we need to see a Jawn Henry next. 8)

It sounded like a good idea at the time... too bad the caboose wasn't in on the plan.

How bad is it that I figured the approx fuel flow?  (242.3gal/hr using a typical turbine's idle fuel flow of 1800 lbs/hr) of course it is after midnight and I can't sleep :x
Can't model worth a darn, but can research like an SOB.

Thought I'd join the party here.  I also model the U.P. in GTEL territory.  At one time, I had a few of 'em, but I changed my era to 1950 through 1956, so GTELs didn't fit in any more...so, I sold 'em on eBay so's I could buy more Athearn Big Boys and Challengers.

Thought somebody here might enjoy this aerial shot of GTELs at Echo on my modular layout depicting the U.P. between Ogden, and Wahsatch.

Here #26 accelerates upgrade towards Cheyenne on the superelevated left-hand running East-bound track at Echo Curve.  This photo is actually a comparo between my highly kit-bashed CA-1 and a stock MT CA, but #26 in the background sure looks good!

Cheers!

They're long out of production. Overland did two runs of 'em I think.

If I still had mine, they'd all be DCC by now...with sound...but as they came from Korea, they were straight DC, but nice, quiet, powerful runners.

They come up on eBay periodically and usually fetch outrageous prices.  I sold mine on 3-day "buy it now" sales for $1,500.00 each.  They were bought within three hours every time, which is a good return on my investment because I traded for all of mine (didn't cost me a dime!).

As nice as they are, they have flaws.  I never could figure out why the grabs on the nose were cast on rather than soldered-on separate pieces or why the walkways on the tops were thick, hurky cast pieces rather than etched.  Probably cost-cutting measures, which irritated me since they weren't exactly cheap when they came out.

I had plans to strip 'em and correct those two problems, and re-paint 'em, but I never go around to it before I decided to sell 'em.

Cheers!

If anyone's interested in a really unique version of a turbine, here's something that may defy reason slightly:

Someone had the idea of painting a Turbine in the most unlikely paint scheme of all: PRR.
It's going on eBay right now, and from the looks of it, it may have been Con-Cor themselves that did it as an actual production paint job.
