A bit off topic, but....
Ernie, where did you get those steamer icons in your message footer?

      Heres one:
http://www.trainweb.org/rrgifroundhouse/steamgif.html
Theres even a Pennsy T1 for Max !

I have several others that I need to locate, one also has the Pennsy S1 and others.
Also as soon as I locate them, I also have GIF links for diesels, electrics, passenger and freight cars as well that I will also post.
Just transfer the GIFs you like to your photo hosting sites, then install them in your signatures the same way you display a pic on the forum.

Just found some more I had:

Finally figured out how to post photos here. Sheesh! What a pain in the butt!!  Thought I'd join the party and post a few photos of some of my U.P. engines I've done a little work on.

First is one of my Key Big Boys that I stripped, ground off most of the cast-on details, added over 135 scratch-build brass parts and repainted to more accurately represent a well-maintained Big Boy in the early Summer of 1951 at Echo on my modular layout, which depicts the U.P. between Ogden and Wahsatch at that time.

Another view of it rounding Echo Curve as it accelerates upgrade to Wahsatch after filling up with coal and water at the new concrete coaling tower at Echo.

Close-up of the pilot and smokebox.

Tender shot.  Over 80 scratchbuilt parts on the tender alone.

Big Boys...love 'em, but I don't think I'm gonna be able to detail up my Athearn plastic-bodied ones like this, although in some ways, the Athearn engines have sharper, more discernible detail than my Key brass ones.

Cheers!

This thread has been full of amazing modelling, but Bob, your work astounds me.  I can't tell what scale it is- beautiful!

Well thanks a lot BOB!!!!

Who is going to post one of there comparatively crappy pictures after that!!!

Good Greef that is totally freaking awesome?  I had hoped his thread would reach 400.    Now that you know how how to post pics you are just going to have to finish it off.

All kidding aside..... That's totally freaking awesome!

Thanks for the remarks!  One of my goals since I've been takin' photos of my work is to get rid of the "identifiers" that say "N-gauge".  There are several things that really make a difference when used, such as MT Z-scale couplers, Micro Engineering flextrack, Highball N-scale ballast, and using an airbrush to weather up things a little bit such as apply "weed killer" to the mainlines, and study photos of the particular engine I'm gonna weather up.

Speaking of which, here are a couple of "art" shots of steam on my Wilhemina Pass LDE, with another detailed Key Big Boy meeting a new F-3 at "The Monument" which is the 1000 Mile Tree Monument and cantilever signal bridge which designates the monument as being 1000 miles from Omaha in 1869 when the track was first laid in the pass.  In 1951, it's not 1000 miles anymore, but the monument is still there, with a little tree that's been planted to replace the original one which has long died.

Here's another, wider shot at "The Monument", with the little natural bridge on the cliffs (known locally as "Devils Looking Glass") in the background.  A Key USRA Light Mike with a big Sweeney stack drifts downhill with the Park City Local, while an F3 A-B helper shoves upgrade (not a normal assignment for U.P. "covered wagons").  The year is 1950, as the older color scheme oxide red CA-4 and newly painted Yellow CA-3 caboose are both present.  Next year, there won't be any oxide red cabooses on the line.

Hope y'all enjoy these too!

Cheers!

I'm suspecting Bob is just yanking our collective chain with his highly detailed large scale models, because what the pictures show is just NOT POSSIBLE.. :?.Everyone knows you can't do his kind of work in N scale, right? :o
I'm hereby volunteering to head to Echo, Utah next week to check it out in person...

Bob,
Your pictures have inspired me to stop using crayons to weather my engines and do scenery! I am going home now to projectile vomit on my layout :scared:

Bob, unbelievable.  Those scenes are remarkable and I have to say, your rock work is some of the best I have seen.

After looking Bob's jaw-dropping modeling, my layout has dropped to Thomas the Tank level of scale accuracy. Thank you so much for posting, very very impressive!

Speaking of Thomas,

I have some european stuff, but only one steamer, and it's a big Fleischmann Pacific.
