Lost? or just from a galaxy far, far away...

So today I swung by Ikea in Emeryville, CA (next to Oakland) to pick up some LEDs for a shelf layout, stepped out of my car, and saw THIS on the rails:

WTF?
Thought for a sec UP had put Eric or Dr. Dave in charge of routing!
So was wondering what's the most "foreign" car you've seen on your home route?
(I know they're containers, but still...)

Does an SP gon make it to Maine?
A CP boxcar find it's way to Florida?

What's the craziest car you've seen far from home?

I have always liked this shot (which I purchased) showing an Alaska Railroad boxcar on the Milwaukee Road at Waukesha (Wisconsin) Lime and Stone. A car from my current home on the rails of my favorite railroad near my hometown. Maybe not too exotic but I like it!

Best wishes, Dave

Nothing unusual to see CN or CP boxcars on CSX headed to Florida.  With todays power sharing, it's also common to see CN, CP, UP, BNSF units on CSX trains.

A CSX container or freight car in California? Not seeing how that's unusual or surprising. Plenty of stuff is shipped from one coast to the other.

I see cars from Mexico in Canada.

Back in the 1980's I recall seeing an NdeM gondola at CP's Toronto Yard in Agincourt, Ontario. You see TFM autoracks and boxcars up here often, but back then, NdeM up here was relatively rare.

Last May, I saw what looked like a brand new BNSF gondola parked on the head of an industry in north Philly. Between all of the lease cars and all of the CSX/NS pay cars available, it struck me as out of place.

Really, the CSX shipping container is a "different company" from the CSX railroad.
and i think they have something at the port of Oakland? Someone was telling me
about this once, but I cant remember all the details.

Nothing odd about that.

Also the UMAX line (the dark blue container) is a joint effort between UP and CSX.

A friend caught a train with a BCRail 8-40CM leading UP SD60Ms, SD70M/MACs, and SD90MACs on a CSX train around here.

FWIW, Here's one of his videos where I make an appearence (Packer's shirt):
*I never noticed before that some of the 50-53' containers were on the bottom and the 40's were on the top...

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.
