Richie, unless I'm missing something, that's a 40' car, it just looks like a fifty footer because its so low slung to fit better in a passenger consist. Here's one in the intermediate TTG scheme...

Puddington:  Thank you.  That's what I suspected, and although they said "over 1,800 still in service in 1972", they didn't say "revenue service".  Looks like I don't need any.   I'd think they'd sell well with Canadian and steam-era modelers.

Now, a Fowler Patent car would be interesting.  I don't need the box, but the D&RGW kitbashed narrow gauge pipe gons from them, and the GN had a very similar looking MOW gon, although as far as I know the GN never owned a Fowler boxcar.  I'd be tempted to buy a few of them and start chopping, although with today's emphasis on details, I probably couldn't afford to.

I would start with this... it has the proper ends/peaked roof and would give the squat appearance.. (especially once lowered)

Thanks Albert I put in an order for 3 . I feel embarrassed that I didn't know a thing about these , and for that matter the prototype .

I still want the mini box's , and sorry Pud for mucking up your thread . How many paint schemes will these be offered in ?

Rich, go for the Briggs kit instead. Both Tim and Mike have built them and they look extremely good.

He asked about both.  I could have been more clear and said go for the Briggs kit of the Minibox instead of waiting for TrueLine to release a RTR model.

So to update this thread, I noticed the n scale Minibox's had fallen off the home page of TLT and I asked them the status and got this reply:

Quote
We're working on getting caught up on the HO scale projects right now. We have a lot more orders for them, along with the simple fact that it doesn't cost that much less to tool and make an N-scale model, but they sell for a much lower price. Which means we need still more orders to cover the costs.

As we work through the projects we'll be re-announcing other projects as they work their way back into the production queue. Just don't know when yet.

I've tried explaining to them before that's it's hard to put in an order when my normal shops don't even carry their product and the other place I would buy from doesn't take pre-orders.
