UP Multi-Colored Herald... When?

Does anyone know when UP came out with this type of lettering, with the multi-colored railroad map?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Union-Pacific-UP-957247-50-AAR-DD-Boxcar-Kit-Intermountain-60616-05-N-JY16-7-/360473211177?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item53ede0b129

Anything after 1971 is too early for my planned layout.

Hmm... you should see
how "well-planned" Kiz's
life has been...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
"It works! It works!"

FWIW, Microscale has a sheet with the Automated Railway map that is listed as 1965-1970.

I know I have one MT car with that map that's pre-'70s.

And the date on the kit you posted looks to be 6? something.

Great. I'll have to put in a bid for the car.

Hmm... I bet a Railwire
member outbids Kiz...

The "Automated Rail Way" map scheme went from 1962 to 1972, replaced when the marketing slogan became "We Can Handle It". This motif originally started with the short-lived "Stoddard Logo" (a/k/a "Campbell's Soup"), with the familiar "shield" medallion returning in 1963. In 9/69 the medallion changed from "Union Pacific Railroad" to just "Union Pacific", so there are technically three versions of the map scheme, '62-'63, '63-'69 and '69-'72.

Basically, you're safe for your era, Kiz, but I wouldn't weather anything with the newer medallion since it would have been a brand-new car in '71.

Wow, thanks for the links and the interesting info. Is this

a photo of a 50' or 60' box car. It looks like a Micro-Trains 60' car...

Hmm... Kiz must be too
lazy to figure it out...
