So Kato just announced a new run of F40PHs in VRE, CalTrain, and Metrolink, along with sets of VRE and Metra bî-levels.

The CalTrain is probably not 100% but I really don't mind, but, does that mean a set of bi-levels could be on the horizon? What about an MP36?  Does Metrolink have the same cars or are they trying to market to the glut of Athearn Bombardier cars?

FVM is doing the GEVOs, also a good chance they'll be announcing a SD70ACe rather soon (with correct amount of ditchlights too).

That said, I'd like some of the new CSX ES44ACs from Kato with the 4-window cab. Kinda need some locos to repaint....

Re: commuter stuff....   That was my thought as well...   Are Caltrain cars in the future?  Will they do the Bombardier cars?

Not sure about the glut you reference, the Athearn cars do not seem to be available anywhere that I've looked.

What I would really like to see is an ACE loco/trainset.....

FVM doing an SD70ACE??  Would rather see them do an SD40-2! :)

I hear Exactrail is doing an SD40-2 though - could this be the "SD40-2 project" or whatever???

CalTrain does have gallery cars similar to what Metra and VRE has but there are some noticeable differences.  Whether or not Kato will feel it is worth making some changes to the molds to do appropriate JPBX cars is hard to say but I was rather surprised that they did VRE to begin with and now adding F40PHs as well... so it yet might be possible...

All I can find is Metrolink on the bay.  I've not seen anything but at the shops I have been to (of course those shops were in LA)

I just don't see how a Cabbage would be in Kato's plans. A (modified-body) dummy unit with limited appeal?  I doubt it.   But this is someting perfectly suited for kitbashers (although a bit pricey since you need to buy a powered loco).

That's what I replying to, he could use the undec F40PH to bash into a cabbage.

I don't see Kato doing the Cabbage units either, wayyyyy too niche.
