Looks very convincing!  What a nice scene you've got going here.

I didn't know they had ospreys in Wisconsin.  I thought ospreys were sea-birds?

On the other hand, if I can put bear and elk on MY layout, well, who am I to say you can't have osprey nests on yours?

REALLY nice power line and poles, BTW.  You work for Wisconsin Power & Light?   :D

Regards,
Paul

Its an aside, but ospreys are generally affiliated with large bodies of water as they hunt fish for a living.  Mostly they are coastal creatures affiliated with salt water coasts, but there is plenty of analogous habitat along the Great Lakes Region (and this along parts of Wisconsin).

This educational moment has been brought to you by your resident science geek.  Now back to our regular program.

The Osprey is the second most widely distributed raptor species, after the Peregrine Falcon.

Oh, yeah, an African swallow maybe, but not a European swallow

Great scene! Actually all of them are great scenes you have on the layout are fantastic and really capture the feel for that area.

I dunno. My bird/snake/general varmint fan friend took one look at the picture and proclaimed it was an osprey nest. You can place any raptor there that you care to. I simply figured it would be better to have something nestlike on top of the pole.

Still adding to the Gills Landing area. One of the cabins has/had a boat dock with a long walkway out to the river. More bridge details next, as well as more trees, of course. (Always, more trees... :|)
