My wife most likely would pick this first choice.  ;)

With all the stringing of lines lately, I was inspired to revisit Gills Landing. It made me realize how much there is to finish here. This is what it used to look like:

Now there are lines that cross the Wolf River on large towers, as per the prototype. Here is an awful picture of a picture of the real place (but it'll give you the idea). Note the large towers (poles?) that are on the left of the picture.

I constructed these crude simulations of the towers and strung a couple lines on them to observe their effect:

They seem to do a good enough job of simulating the real ones and I like how they look. I am not sure how I like their effect of dominating the scene. I am just used to seeing things without them I suppose. I must remind myself that I am, after all, modeling a "man-made" scene.

W,
Those towers are great.  Di you get any in progress build photos?

And I love the loco lash-up in front of the pulpwood cars in the last shot.  Nothing says regional line like an F45 coupled to an SW (?) pulling a mixed freight.

W,
I'm with Philip on this one.  Those poles/towers look great!

When I looked at the first photo, it look good [as all of yours have], then seeing the last photo  :o
I went back to the first and it now looked as if it was missing something.

I don't think they over power the scene at all.  I think they look right at home.  The angle of the last shot has a very realistic look to it.

Nice job and thanks for the pics!

The ACR SW8s didn't have MU. So that'd be a power move. The sort of thing you see on any regional or larger railway from time to time. :-)

(One of the two SW8s on the ACR roster made it to WC in 1995. It should be renumbered WC 900.)

I don't know about "crude," those towers look great, especially with the sag in the lines. It's a cool affect and I like how it adds to the realism.

Stunning work,

Thank you sirs. I now see that the towers are part of the scene and indeed, it looks funny without them. I did get some in progress build shots, but since its just two poles with some crossbraces etc., I did not think it was worth posting them. I.E. Its a simple build. Rather easy.

Now to build the osprey nest. THAT will be a challange...  ;)

Once you put some trees in there, that are taller than the poles, they will look really good. Great scene, Poles look about to be the correct height.

Um... Yeah... That could be an issue... Maybe some shorter trees. I don't have much room to work with until I hit the "skyboard".  :scared:
