Any Problems w/Unitrack #2 Wye?

Has anybody picked up the Unitrack Wyes yet?  If so have you had any problems running certain equipment through them or any major derailments like with their #4 points?

Haven't used this wye yet but have used the other Unitrack turnouts & crossovers on my layout.
I'm interest too on how well this piece performs. ( -:

I trust Kato with their Unitrack design and would purchase the Wye if I had a place to use it on my current layout.

Its not that I dont trust Kato  products, I was curious if it suffered from the same problem as the #4s.

I picked up on to start off the redesign of my 30th St Station and so far so good, it works pretty well.

One thing I am surprised about is that it you have the ability to operate it either power-routing or non powering routing.

Also they raised the side of the roadbed up along where the manual switch lever is to the same height as the rest of the roadbed and ties.  So the likelihood of getting glue into the base of the wye has greatly lessen.

The wiring for the turnout switch is is completely removable with plug and play features under the wye, with little notches compared to the gaping hole on the #4/#6s on each side of the wye to route the wiring left or right.

Hope this little review helps somebody.

:) I see you have been taken in by a few "nay-sayer" regarding the #4 turnouts.   I have about 20 in the various yards on my layout and find they work very fine.  I run mostly steam until recently and added a few E-series diesels.  There are some forum summaries that explain in detail how to tweak the #4's if one if experiencing problems.  [Sorry I do not have a directly link at hand.]

I have NEVER glued or otherwise fixed any turnouts in place. My layout is on extruded polystyrene foam, and I have used straight pins to fix adjacent track in place to hold the alignment.

I have glued Kato turnouts on a foam roadbed but did one of two things to prevent scenic glue from getting inside and fowling up the internal workings. I either run a bead of Elmer's (or wood glue) along the sides of the turnout or used low temperature hot melt and did the same as the wet glues. After the glues harden I can finishing doing scenic material around the turnouts. You still have to beware of the opening were the manual throw sticks out. Best to cover that with a strip of 3M masking tape to keep that area free of any glue. ( -:

Gluing down the switches is something I never had a problem with, but I know when adding scenery/ballasting the switches especially on the side it was easy to get glue in the switch and gum things up.  With this new design, you only really have to worry about the top of the swtich and not the side.

That's a good thing to know One Of One-Sixty!
Would of been nice if Kato did their other turnouts in that manner ( -:

All this discussion forced me to order one.
I've been curious about it since it came out. Lots of people said they were getting them - but then no reports.
I have a handmade wye made from two 19' radius pieces that I've been waiting to replace with a powered unit. Guess the time has come.

Depending on how long your wye is it should fit perfectly, as the Kato wye is made up of two of Kato's 481-15 19" radius curves.
