Kato MAXI I Review

Maxi-I and Maxi-IV are at the photo tool maker now.   

Another attaboy for Bob!  A long needed upgrade for these other wise pretty good cars (would have said excellent but the connection issues and the non-robustness of the earlier IVs killed that...).

C'mon DI!  If they EVER get here, their Maxi IVs should blow Kato out of the water - and deservedly so!

These are very nice sets that fill a big gap in the modern "literature".  I wish they were available w/o containers though...

Bob, any word on when the detail sets will be available?

You could always flip the containers in the trading post, as the containers released in the Maxi sets are not available separately....

I'm tempted to do that, but first I'll whine about them a bit more.

Compared to the most common prototype, both models are way too saturated.  I could get a better match with 5 minutes of noodling on my computer:

P.S. The APL containers are pretty nice and they often appear en masse in UP trains, so I'll keep those.   Besides, this is the only game in town for modern intermodal now...  We need Deluxe to bounce back!!

The Maxi IVs yeah, but the Maxi I's still are not available in the parts bin yet.  Also majority of the Maxi IV's are long sold out.
