I thought I was ready to decal these bad boys, but then I found this thread and went back to the shop for interior detailing....  Better modelling though peer pressure, indeed.

http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/group.php?discussionid=1113&pp=10&page=2&do=discuss

I painted the inside, put in some strips and just need to put in the brake line and then the decaling.

Coming to the end of the modelling season for me.  I'm heading north for field work soon so all the trains will go away.  I lined up a few trains in my Hornpayne yard to see how it might look.

VGort: Glad to see you on the other side.  :D  And another roundy-round member! I posted my layout saga in the Layout Engineering Reports section: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?board=20.0 Your layout, as usual, is looking fine. I'll get to some scenery on mine one of these days...

Glad to see you made the jump to the party over here at TRW.  I saw some of your posts over on Atlas and was really hoping to contuine to see more progress. On the fence with doing a quick layout using Kato's double track myself. Did you use the V11 set or the V16?  I love how you painted the track. Looks great, and well used.

Thanks!   That's the v11 set.  Picked that up after reading the MR Salt Lake layout articles and stared at it for a long time, ran it around a little Christmas tree...  boredom set in and I bought some foam.  Painting the track made a huge difference, and I must admit it's VERY cool to be able to take the track off for scenery work at least until I do ballast.  The only problem so far is that the really diluted acrylic paint I used looks good, but seeped into the rail joiners and messed up conductivity.  Before I glue the track down I may have to solder the joints and shoot a little more paint.

Trying my hand at painting a loco. Something to represent a loco that come by the house on the branch line. Next up is couplers and white decals. They got a new printer at my sons place of work that prints white and he is going to try printing the decals for me. I am excited to see if they turn out for that will help on a lot of projects. White decals have been a stopping point on many of my projects.

My first time posting here so hope this works

Paul:  If the white decals work out, you might suggest to your son that his company offer custom decal printing.  Given the price of commercial decals they could probably charge as much as $10 a sheet to print them, which would easily cover their costs and some profit, if they bought the paper in bulk.  Customers could email them image files, and all they'd have to do is print and mail them.  It would be somewhat expensive, compared to current commercial decals, but for custom work, especially of one only needs one or two sheets, it would be worth it.

Once again there is some fantastic work being done here.

Well this weekend I decided to go up to Mansfield,Tx and work on the layout of Rossford Yard.

We are just getting underway, the staging benchwork is done. So now the mountains must move and water ways parted to allow the construction of helix. ( YAY)

The space is 47 1/2" square.. the decision was made to go with a 19" radius for the helix..... So I set out to complete task of cutting material and laying out.

With the help of Denver Road Doug,,, we tackled said project with such vigor that time just flew by, and plenty of saw dust was created. And a fun time was had by all.

I did the math for the grade calcs, cut supports. Then proceeded to rough the helix in.

  And there ya have it!

  Adios Till Next Time, Wyatt

Paul, that is some nice paint work on the Geep. You might also find that the Microscale set 60-602 has most of the decals you need:
http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=MD&Product_Code=60-602
It might just be missing the "x" from the EMDX...

BB, awesome work as always with the autorack!

I finished my version of the Krause house (Hope, MN) this week. For these houses, I decided early on that I wasn't going to be able to get enough pictures to scratchbuild them properly (not wanting to traipse around on peoples' property), so I've just been picking kits that more or less capture the basic flavor of the prototype.  In this case, the Branchline Trains "Albion House" (along with an Atlas garage) worked out pretty well -

Cheers,
-Mark

I worked on a few different projects this week.......

First is this building, which I made from leftover walls from my heavily kitbashed paper mill. I really liked this side of the building, so I didn't cut it up in anticipation of this project. First I had to make the unseen walls out of styrene, and then I made a base that the structure will "snap" into. I then built up layers of styrene until the pavement nearly matched the rail height, while surrounding the building with the styrene as well. Next I "paved" in between the rails. I have a thing for street track, and wanted to see if I could make some. After a little tweaking, it works very well. Next I will see if I can "pave" over a #5 and a #7. Wish me luck.....
Here it is, still much more to be done, including painting the pavement...

Next is this trio of factory Atlas cars, that I've been working on weathering. The gons are pretty much done, the boxcar has more to be done...

And finally, here is a caboose that I completed a few week ago, but the decals I had were not the right size, so I repainted and decaled the body of the car. Aside from the end ladders(which I cannot find) , the smokejack, and some weathering, here it is.....I still need to glue the roofwalk down as well...

Here is a before pic:

Here it is now.  And the last pic shows a group shot of my Atlas cabeese, all with different paint schemes...3 done by me, 3 done by Atlas...

Have a great week...
