I have started in on the the next building for the Beer Line, the White Pearl Macaroni plant. They received single-bay Airslide hoppers of flour and had a very interesting set of silos. Like many of the buildings along this section of the line, one of the corners is chopped off at an angle, which really adds an interesting look.

Here are a couple of shots of the prototype.

This building has eighty gazillion windows to cut out, so I use my Silhouette digital cutter to scribe the openings on some styrene brick sheet.

I will use the Silhouette to make the windows, either using a tape paint mask or maybe vinyl tape.

Paint mask.

Vinyl tape.

Best wishes, Dave

N scale garbage truck is done....

....and I took up the challenge to make it work...

The bed parts were cut on my vinyl cutter plus some .020 x .020 strips for the ribbing on the sides. The truck is a CMW F-350 body on a cut down truck chassis from a White Superpower flat bed.

Tony,
If I make a recommendation on the white grill inlay. I took mine apart and cleaned up the parts, it sits in the grill a tad deeper giving it a proper look instead of the "bug eyes".

Here's a shot of my weekend's efforts.  Working on my shelf dio of the LA River around Dayton Ave and made up this model of the iconic tower there.  This structure is still around, moved 400 yards to the East to serve as the entrance to the new LA Transit Authority I believe.  The parts are laser cut out of composit board.

Cheers

Joe,

Looks great, but did the prototype also misspell Pacific?    :P

And spelling aside, how much ya want for one of these?  It's totally cooler then any of KCS' towers, and I'd love to add it along a mainline heavily weathered and weedy.

OMG. Dayton Ave. I was up in that tower many times. A long-ago friend of mine was 2nd trick operator there for something like a decade. He got his dispatcher credentials and went on to railfan fame and glory as "WR52", the DS assignment covering Tehachapi. He retired 3 or 4 years ago.

It's called target fixation  :D...I corrected it on the artwork and will make another.  Just send me your shipping info and I'll send you the parts...easy assembly.  I got a masters in Journalism and was told by my professor that I would secure the place of a copy editor as long as I was in the profession.  :D

Isn't that how you spell Pacfic ? :D

Very nice work Joe....
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!
