Finished laying the last of the roadbed on modules 1 & 2. Pictured below us the former PRR / NYC interchange and crossing. The story goes that the NYC Hagerstown branch crossed the PRR South Penn line here and they had an interchange. The diamond is now ripped out and the former NYC abandoned south of this location. The old interchange, now under Conrail, is the connection between the Jacks Industial (former PRR) and the short spur to the industries through Poe Valley.

The PRR is the route with the track. The white pin in the center is where the tower will be.

I've been building and planting oaks on the Shoofly Free-moN module, along with flowers:





We're having a show in a week, so we'll see how much I can get done by then (including building the transport box)

The marklin & other clubs will be running stuff the whole two weeks.
Us Free-moN dudes will set up Fri. night (4/6), and then run Sat. 4/7 and the next weekend 4/14 & 4/15.
Though if I have time during the week I might head over & run some trains.
Those two weeks are spring break for the school around here, so lots of dads and kids will be moseying through, so prime time to preach the wonders of N scale.

I think we're also going to try to set up in June at the BAPM 2012 (Bay Area Prototype Modelers) in Richmond.

I finally got around to finishing this project.  Thought it would be cool to have a BNSF SD70ACe in the Super Fleet colors.  I had a hard time locating decals, but finally found a pack at a shop in Illinois.

Still a little work left with some minor details that need to be added.

First is a factory painted geep that I'm weathering to look something like this., only worse....

Where would we be without Life Like?

I'm 2 weeks into a 3 week trip to Japan, so no modelling here. Went to the Shinkansen museum last week and that was pretty cool. Managed to get some work done on photos for a Model:160 article but netbook issues are causing me grief

MARRS N-scale was at the Potomac/Chesapeake Division NMRA Mini-Con yesterday. I didn't get as far as I'd hoped on the Kankakee station module's scenery before the con, but at least I had glueshell down and the module edges painted:





Meanwhile, Area 53 dispatched an element of its security forces to deal with a clear and present danger on a nearby module:

Added another rock casting and started blending all the currently installed castings with Sculptamold.  Have to say with this being the first time using both products, I am very impressed with their ease of use.  Need to purchase some more rubber rocks this week to really start the ball rolling.

stupidly, I took pics with my phone, and now can't find the mini SD card to sd card interface card, but I have made progress on my roads, getting the sidewalks and foundations done and the open areas carved. .060" Styrene for base, .020" for sidewalks. Not sure how good the thickness will be, but we'll see. Also painted some of the foam, not sure if I'm digging the tint or not; might be a bit too orangy for light tan SC soil...

Well, not much modeling this week.


I did manage a few updates on some Con-Cor and MDC tank cars. The Con-Cor 56' Funnel Flow tank can be modified into a UTLX 60' 26K gallon car with a fair amount of work. The car won't be exact, but its close enough for my tastes.

In other news, finances are looking much better this year and I plan to start work on the basement again as well as purchase of some much needed tools for the resin car project. I hope to have some samples next year.
