I hope Atlas releases the parts for this sooner than later I blew off one of the posts at the edge of the pilot (WOMP...WOMP).

That Z2 looks pretty stinking good. Now it justs need a load (C'mon DKS!), new inserts for the drivers, cab glazing, crew and maybe an upgrade to the pilot wheels. Not too concerned with the headlight, mine was acceptable to my eye. Throw a 905 on the rear end and it'll be a really nice piece.

Peteski,
Would either of the n-scale magazines be a likely to publish your decoder article sooner?
Just a thought.

I'm going to try out for the big leagues.  :D  Once I finish the article, I'll peddle it to MR first. If they are even interested and willing to publish it without a years worth of a delay, I'll go with them. If not, I'll try the N scale magazines.

Driver inserts, a cab back wall and glazing will be part of the forthcoming upgrade kit. I'm thinking about the possibility of a load, but that's not yet been decided upon. I may need to order a Z2...

I did exactly the same thing!

I just ordered a couple of Z2s so I can look at the tender load situation.

Peteski:  Ouch!  You're right, even an oil lamp should be easily visible in the dark...

I could have saved you a couple bucks DKS, had I not been preoccupied with NCIS last night.
I'd have cut the one out of my Graham Farish Class 04 since I think it's burnt out anyway.

When I test ran one of my lokies to make sure it would run I thought I saw the headlamp (oil lamp light) lighted and then looking again under the normal layout room lighting, thought I must be imagining things. My other two lokies (engines ) did not look lighted at all. When I operated an earlier Micro Ace /Atlas 2-6-0 alongside a 4-4-0 the Mogul light was at a normal brightness for a real turn of the century (1800's) locomotive, but the 4-4-0 showed zippo-denada-no light at all.Nate Goodman (Nato).

Then send it back for repair (or try fixing them yourself).  They are supposed to have working headlights.

All this talk about headlights and soon as mine were apart I tossed the light boards in the trash.  :tommann:

So what value resistor did you decide to utilize for the DC only mod Chris ? I have a pair to do myself at some point .

It has to be 12V as the power goes right from the tender wheels to to motor.

The stock box headlight looked small to me so I replaced it with a bigger RLW casting.
