N scale Modern Military Vehicles

Hey everyone, I am in a posission where I may be able to mold N scale Humvees and HEMMTs in N scale here in the next few months. I am mostly doing this for myself, I need about 10-20 of each. I got thinking thought, I know the only N scale Humvees and HEMMTs that are out there right now look like crap, and are avaible though a guy on ebay. I'm hoping my castings look better, and if they do, I will probably start to sell them, Unpainted and unassembled. But of course, I'll offer them up to the asshats  :ashat: first. As of now, I am not sure if it is going to happen or not, but I will keep you guys updated....

You know about the ones that Burt Industries (later someone else) made, right? I have a couple floating around if you're looking for inspiration ;).

Yeah, No thanks. The olf Burt Industries ones are the ones that are being sold on E-bay, and the look like crap. I don't know how good the castings actually are, but the ones he is selling look like he painted it with his knuckles. I have taken shits that look better painted than some of those.

Willmodels is working on a HEMMT. GHQ has an M1A1. Roco/Herpa produce an M109 and M112, though both are pretty old now.

Still no accurate Hummer.

Hobby Search has these available:

At 1/144 they are 10 percent over size, but they do look nice.

I got one of the GHQ M1A1, I am going to try to make a mold and cast it, I need about 4 more of them. I have some M113s I got from someone over on the A boards, or Trainboard, can't remember. those hummers look super nice, and I think I can live with 10% oversized. I hope he finishes the HEMMT soon, I'm good for 10 of them if he does. Oh and I still need about 5 bradleys......

I recently got the only 4 1:160 products from Herpa I could find thru my LHS.
Catalog # 900 Kampfpanzer Leopard 2 BW
# 903 M113
# 904 M109A3G
# 905 Unimog U1300
These are fantastic models. I would love to have a Willys jeep in N. I had a 1948 Willys in 1:1 what a blast it was to drive.

If you want WWII military......

They are cast pewter and very nicely done but I can't see pulling a realistic length train of the equipment.

There is also Trackside Treasures available through Walthers, although they seem a bit underscale.

It's funny you mention that....
I got a freind that has a little better 3d imaging skills than I do that is working on a HEMMT and a Humvee for me, he's suppose to be making them to where they are molding friendly, so the plan is to have them printed up, and if they look good, try to make molds from those, I'd really like to be able to just buy them thought.....

I did some LVTP-7's at Micro Trains...we will be re-releasing them in the next couple of months.  I just finished up the M3 Stewarts for the runner pack in April and I suspect we will have those bagged a few months after that release...oh yea, the amphib jeep was done last year.  I was hoping to do more but other stuff got in the way.

The Leopard 2's are quite nice and stand in for Canadian Forces tanks from the Lord Strahcona's for me....
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!
