I haven't decided whether those buildings are temporary and I would build replicas of the three stores across the street from the A&R office.  But, even if temporary, the suggestion to brick up some of the windows warrants consideration.  Those buildings aren't so close that they can't have doors, though, which would keep the fire marshal happy (a second egress).  We'll see.  Finishing those buildings is a task for another day.

Meanwhile, during today's snowstorm, I managed to get a little time in the train room.  I finished ballasting Aberdeen, with the exception of the Southern Ry. interchange to the left of the A&R enginehouse in the following picture:

I also installed the first of four crossbucks with flashing lights in Aberdeen.  I also still have to wire and install the IR detectors.

Dang them streets look good.

I really like how those turnout controls... eh... turned out, too. Quite unassuming. Could almost be mistaken for a prototype switch motor.

is that an NJ international crossing signal?  How does it look in person?

It is.  With the exception of the lights not being as straight as I would like them to be, they look really nice.  I was afraid to try to bend them, fearing I would break the signal.  The signs are well done.  Overall, I'm really pleased with the signals, although I haven't finished the wiring to see how well they light and flash.

Let us know when you get the lights flashing. I had a hard time getting mine to work and when I did only 3 of the 4 lights worked

Oh, dear!  This is not what I wanted to hear.  I already spent a significant chunk of time installing that one signal and wiring it to the flasher circuitry.  I still have to install the second signal and wire up and install all of the IR sensors in the tracks.  Complicating the installation, on one side of the road the track has a turnout (goes to a passing siding), so I need to figure out how to activate the signals from either track on that side.  If I do all of that and find out they don't work, I may retire from the hobby.

lol  I used the slow flash modules from Ngineering "Early-era Alternating Flasher Simulator". I think what I found out was I needed a separate circuit board for each crossbuck. The LEDs all work if I test them with a battery, but when hooked up to the circuit board only 3 worked. And I was just gonna hook them up to a on/off switch. I gave up. Now you see why I hate DCC  :D

Oh, whew!  I'm using a totally different flashing circuit than you, which is supposed to be able to handle two signals for each board.  Seems to me, I would just wire them in parallel to activate the two signals at one time.  We'll see.  I have a separate set of signals and circuitry for the A&R crossing.

I see bent/crooked signals all the time.  They get hit by passing vehicles etc.  Could use that as an opportunity for a scene, have a signal maintainer stopped there trying to fix it.
