Exactly
what I asked for.  Nothing train related.

Just as well because TiVoPrincess and my sister often conspire but simply cannot understand that Southern is not the same as Southern Pacific.  I have a number of gifts stashed away from over the years that testify to this...

The Juniata Division added a GG1 locomotive (with a DCC decoder) thanks to my boys, and a reference book on the Pennsylvania Railroad Philadelphia Division thanks to Mom and Dad!  OK, technically I won the G and decoder on an eBay auction a month ago, but hey, it was worth waiting for, incorrect lettering fonts and all!

So now I can photograph this kind of Pennsy win:

MSB Pennsy Facilities Volumes 14 and 15 (I have 7-15 now), PRRTHS Pennsy Gondola Book, three Athearn Conrail 50' DD Boxcars, three Athearn Southern 50' DD boxcars and some cash.  The cash is going towards some undec. MTL 3 bay 100 ton hoppers that will be painted and decaled Conrail some time next year.

I've never seen any A-B-A sets on the Zephyr on the WP. I've seen photos of an instance of an A-B-B-A set but that was unusual too. The norm by a long shot was A-B-B, what you use in that combo depends on whether you want it fairly new (F3s) or towards the Zephyrs end. Most photos I've seen (older) include a FP7 and a mix of F3 and F7 Bs, or two of one or the other. Quite often the Bs featured a painted-side unit and a polished stainless one too, for variety. Personally, I think the D&RGW early simple scheme PAs were super beautiful (they showed in black & gold briefly too, which was nice). The CB&Q Es were pretty freakin' sweet too and the Q ran F3s at the very start.

You can throw in a D&RGW B unit and still be realistic. Don't forget the WP shorty steam car and the occasional foreign cars, especially D&RGW gold in the train sets heading for San Fran. Sleeping cars from the Pennsy (Tuscan and UP Cities scheme), SP, and UP could also be found in consist.

Damn, I never should have picked up those WP books again...

Really bad food poisoning (from dinner on Xmas Eve Eve), so I've managed to loose weight instead of gaining. I wouldn't recommend it for weight loss

Only rail related was the obligatory Cdn RR calendar my GF gets me every year.

Got an airbrush and compressor from my parents, so I can get a paint shop up and running sometime in the new year.

Santa Bob brought me a WM RS3 from Bachmann, and a B&O S-2 from Arnold...  There are lots of things the elves in Santa Lee's workshop are working on, but none of them are done yet!

The Gorre & Daphetid DVD, a Model Power B&M 4-4-0, and a pair of SP Athearn Overland coaches. Since opening them this morning I've found time to weather the 4-4-0, and cut off one of the SP car's carsides so I can make a baggage car that Athearn won't tool for me.
