This week saw a new SD 40 in CPR claasic tuscan and grey join the roster....Canadian-ized of course (sorry for the crappy shots)

I love running 9000 hp of road power.... a couple of SD 40's and a big butt C630......

Merry Christmas to all..............
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Finished my masters for custom concentrate containers for a CP flat I'm working on and poured some rubber molds. (Poured molds for this and a few other masters.)

Now I'm learning to properly mix and pour the casting resin to churn out the parts. (The car carries 5 of these 10' containers, so need 10 copies of each piece for one car.)

During this past week I was able to put in some quality time on my outfit cars and the first two are now ready for paint:

Car #1 - roof vents, half running board, electrical conduits, grab irons, sill steps, ladders, brake equipment added to carbody; couplers and underframe added to floor:

Car #2 - end vents, intake screens, side exhaust stacks, electrical conduits, grab irons, sill steps, ladders, brake equipment added to carbody; couplers, underframe and brake equipment added to floor:

These cars will now receive a primer and gloss clear coat in preparation for the application of Archer rivet decals, and then the final paint coat.  I also have to source some appropriate decals with which to finish the cars.

Very nice Daryl!
Pud, that doesn't look like your usual passenger power.
Tim, I wish I was as organized as you are in building equipment. Far too often the part I need is buried under a mess of paints, brushes, and paper towels.

In moving from one house to another I resurrected a G scale B&M 2-8-0 project that I'd never finished. I haven't unpacked the camera yet, so pictures will have to wait until next week. I'm also expecting a Model Power 4-4-0 and a pair of Athearn overland coaches as a holiday gift from mom, one of which will become a baggage car after I order some evergreen car siding.
if you can't conduct yourself, conduct freight

That's where I found a lot of the background buildings for the Summer Shelf Shunting project:

Free account allows 15MB of downloads per ??? (not sure: went back a month later and account was back allowing full 15MB).
Groovy site for brick / wood textures, and they have a bunch of oil refinery photos that'd make cool backdrops (but a PITA to cut out).

OMG...
For Local  :ashat:'s, you may or may not be aware of Richardson's Farm (in Whitemarsh off of Ebenezer Rd.)... anyway... went there today for some last minute grocery shopping and one of the cooks from the back came out and we struck up a conversation about a pumpkin pie they had (ohh so good, even without the whiskey)...  anyway... he runs in the back, comes back out with this homemade treat of chocolate, caramel, marshmallow fluff, whiskey and topped with ... wait for it... BACON.

Is it wrong that the wife turned to me and said "you gotta take a picture of this for Ed!"  she may just be an honarary  :ashat:

on top of it all, it was awesomely delicious... the type of treat where you take a bite and say.. "Oh yeah, that is good"...

so yeah, that's my Weekend Update...  The wife dropped an "Ed' reference when she saw bacon... not modeling related... but classic.

I've been working on an HO BAR plow and diorama for my friends wife for Christmas. Her father retired from the BAR in the mid 60's. He operated a Russell plow in the winter and a Jordan Spreader doing ditching in the summer months. She always wanted a model of a plow so I got an undec and put it together and had some decals made. Her Dad moved down here around 1968 and lived about a quarter mile from me, I wasn't into trains back then but would have loved to here some stories about the railroad. He passed about 15 years ago about the time I got into the hobby. So she doesn't know about it but will see it on Christmas day. So her birthday coming up in March and my buddy wants an engine to push it so I guess I'll be doing a Geep 7 next!!
