I don;t know Mike, Tim Horton's seemed pretty good to me. One could have some fun with the Canadian Donut Car and the Woodland Scenics Policemen and MWI Police cars.

How about a derailed car with a spilled load of doughnuts (yeah, a foob load) and a cordon of RR workers holding back the police!

Apologies to Ian

There is only one true donut on the planet, and happily I live within 3 miles of it.

I'm pretty sure the giant leap in commuter car prices was due to licensing.

Does anyone know a good date for the Revere Sugar? I found an article dated 1987 that described a Revere Sugar plot of land in Charlestown being sold in 1987 so I figure these cars were gone by then. Anyone know for sure?

ESM released the Revere Sugar Refinery scheme on the Atlas Airslide in the early 1990s.  The service date of that release was 4/57.

Thanks Bryan. That puts it out of my early 50's B&M and late 90's CR interests.

Boy would I die for a real bakery down here!  Everybody here thinks Krispy Kreme's are donuts.  They're just glazed dough.

The only car I'll probably be interested in is the Nebraska Mills car.

Careful . . in a part of the country where "He needed killin" is often a valid murder defense, defaming Krispy Kreme is a dangerous occupation . . . .

Damn  I love cholestorol.  If I drive by a Chrispie Cream and see that they have the light on for fresh hot donugs, I just gotta stop and get some.  They may not be the best in some peoples mind but those fresh, hot ones (no porn intended) are to die for.

Krispy Kreme came into our part of the world, western New York state, like a "rush" back around 2002.

They built a couple shops in the Buffalo area and my gosh, there were news stories in the papers about incredibly long lines and short-tempers.

The problem became "over exposure".  Too many Krispy Kreme donuts in too many places.  They were providing them to fund raising groups (you could get a box of a dozen for like $5) but the worst was that they were showing up in all convenient stores.  Krispy Kreme donuts became a "commodity".   That drove demand down.

Then you had the entire low-carb craze, which permantly crippled the brand in our area.

I see they announced metal wheels, too.  Would be interesting to know what is the difference between these and the ExactRail wheels, which I use as replacements in Athearn so far (besides FVM).
When did they switch to metal wheels for their models?  Did they at all?  The noted price increase of $4 would just cover the retail price of four wheelsets.

Up to now I thought that 12 wheelsets in a pack would be too few, now Athearn offers 8 !!  Handling of these small amounts must be more expensive than the wheels themselves.
