Also, since there will be a few canals, anyone ever come up with a easy cheap way to make long stone and brick walls? Im thinking about casting rubber molds from one I can find that is like the real one.

Lehigh and Keystone Valley MR Club has the Delaware Canal on the
layout at Pburg. Might email them through the web site to see how
they did it.

Brian,
Are you looking to model the cut stone walls that are so popular up here on the NE roads?  If so, try industrial flooring tile. I used white so that I could darken it to the color I wanted with washes. You can also get dark gray.

Brian,

It's Armstrong floor tiles. I cut mine into 3/8" strips and then broke the strips into pieces 3/8" long. I used a gray tile for my abutments and once they where all glued together I mixed up some joint compound with a very loose consistency. While it was drying I washed off most of it and just left it in the cracks. After all was dry I mixed up a wash that I applied in layers to get the look I ended up with. I also applied some rust steaks where the bridge beams would be.

Brian, will these be for the B&A 2' x 4' blocks used on bridge construction?

They will be for the stone abutments and canal walls on B&M property. You can find some pictures here:

I think they will be different sizes for the canal walls and the RR stuff. I think maybe tomorrow I will take a field trip

Brian,
Like Jon said, 3/8 strips, by 3/8 long, 1/8 thick Armstrong Tile. I built a jig that John (MEC_Fan) uses:  A 20" long piece of hardwood with a 1/8 wide groove, 3/8" deep cut into it. Push the tile into the groove, score both sides of the tile and then snap off. Cut the tile strips to the length stone you want. Weather to your desire.

Can you purchase these tiles loose? All the places I have seen show them for packs of 12 and such for $150, ect.

LOL yeah I had to call Lowes to ask if they where available in single tiles. So I grabbed 3 (.77 each). Now my question is when you cut them into strips, how to you maintain the rough cut look on the edges? do you score and break them?
