Probably your monitor.

Coincidentally enough I just got a new monitor, and was just checking this thread to use high contrast of these images to confirm something, and indeed the images are FAR more Red (even after I've done some configuration work) than they were when I was looking at the images earlier on the other monitor.

Relax... the pictures are just out of balance.  To ease your fears, just go check out Horizon video of the NTS on BLMAs site... you'll see the HO and N cars

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

I have never been a fan of TOFC(I will be dragging coal around until I assume room temp) but when I saw these cars I said " well, that's a reason to do some intermodal work" . They look fantastic in all the previews and I have 6 of the original brown and 4 more of the 2nd gen yellow on order. I am now picking up 40ft trailers to stock them with when they arrive. If it wasnt for my Ntrak club I wold not have bothered as they would look real funny on my home modular layout(and I use that term loosely). But I can't wait for the spring show when I can break out the TOFC, autoracks, and 86ft auto parts cars. That will be something to see.

Pretty sure that's the reasining behind it, cause once TTX did away with circus style loading, the white disappeared (the yellow 70s scheme has the off-white treadways too)

I can't use them because I don't have any 9 3/4 inch curves to run them on.   [He said facetiously (you always have to say that because some people have no sense of humor)].

white deck = anti-skid surfacing.

Not sure about that... I haven't seen any reference to anti-skid, adding sand, etc in the orignal TT paint diagrams

In Railmodel Journal (I believe) there was an article about the later ACF cars - and I specifically remember that the author said the white paint on the deck in the YELLOW scheme was anti-skid paint.

Not sure what this means for the brown scheme, or even if it's correct info for the yellow scheme, but the white paint was there.

Frankly, if I were picking anti-skid paint to put under highway trailers, I don't think white would be my first choice.  Maybe mauve....   :-X

The cars look fantastic!!!
