AC4400CW Grab Irons & Other Parts (CP Version)

Need a little help from the experts.
Looking at pictures of 1:1 scale CP AC4400CWs and Kato's version I just noticed something and am wondering if I'm correct....
The Kato cab with rear panels seems to represent a 90's built AC4400 but the hood on the Kato seems to represent an in 2000's built AC4400?

If you look just behind the dynamic brake openings on the kato hood there is a panel and then a radiator air intake which seems to represent a 2000's built loco, pre 2000's built seem to have the radiator air intake right beside the dynamic brake openings.

Scale diameter is about 0.005", unfortunately no one makes these commercially, so I form my own from 0.005" stainless steel wire.  Once you get a technique down, it's really not all that much more extra work.

So Ed whats your technique?  Inquiring minds would like to know!
