After working on it off and on for a week, I finished this project up earlier this week and am rather pleased with the outcome.  It's the largest scrach-built structure I've done.

I have driven by this old building in town countless times and each time have told myself that I was going to build it some day.  Well,  "some day" arrived and I ordered 60 windows and went to work last week when they arrived.  The building was originally a woolen mill but is presently used as a food pantry for surplus food for the poor.  Before building, I had to make a few concessions:  a lot of the building cannot be seen from the road, nor will it be on my layout.  Therefore, I did not model the lower level nor the back wall, not seen from the road because the structure is built on a ridge, the land sloping behind the main structure.  So, I built it to sit flat on my layout but, I think I captured the essence of the thing, anyway.  The roof did not turn out the way I planned it as it "puckered" a little and some day, if I don't become used to it, I may replace it.  I will also add more detail when I place it permanently on the layout.

Oh, please tell me you're doing the E44 as well, and that I'll be able to get one!  WANT!

Hopefully, I'll make some progress today and tomorrow and have something to share by the end of the weekend.

Worked on the Heisler this week, the question of the week thread hase a short narritive of the major work, I also decided this is going to be a oil burner, so the diamond stack had to go, and shotgun comes in it's place.

Sucky week. Dad died last night.

No, you're in teasing mode, and I need a cold shower.  Ditto on the E44!

Did a little redesign on my layout. Instead of return loops at each end with staging behind, I went with a full race track. So I had to put in a drop section.

The track to the left in the last pic that goes thru the wall will go to a 6 track staging yard.

Daniel,

My sincere condolences for your loss.

Best wishes, Dave

Dick that is a great looking building!

As for the roofing, is that masking tape? You might be able to use some CA with a needle point applicator to glue the roofing down. If a small amount squirts out it can look like roofing tar. Most old roofs have a variety of patches and patterns on them. Just don't overdo it  and it should look fine. Even if you don't go that route the building looks great.

Best wishes, Dave

Thanks for the Kudos, gents.

Dave, I used a method on the roof I've used many times before successfully... this time it bombed.  To simulate rolled tar paper, I cut strips of 20 lb computer paper into 1/4" strips and "GOO'ed" them to the roof.  But, this time they puckered when I painted even though I'd hit it with Dull Coat before painting to "seal" it.  I'll give the CA a try, thanks.  I've already slit the bumps with a knife hoping they'd flatten out which they did, but only a little.  Actually, as time goes by, it looks a little better each time I look at it... I think it's called rationalization! ;D
