I can't see it anymore either...or any evidence there's a photo in the post.  It's GONE

I saw it fine on Chrome at work, but nothing on Safari at home.

What I love about it though Gary is that your eyes are drawn to the same details on your model as they are in the proto - for me, it's the vertical white grab near the door and the green first aid sign above the steps. Well done.

Well, from digging around the internet, it does indeed seem to be the case that iCloud image URLs are time-dependent, so there seems to be no way to share them here in a permanent way.

The same seems to be true for Google, which has caused the above two Google photo links to fail.  (Oddly, I can see them again today if I log back in to Google, even though the long URL has changed.  There must be a way that logged users get redirected to the permanent link.)

I'll continue to use the TRW gallery here, and explore compression options.

Gary,  All of my photos here are stored at Google Photos.  They don't disappear.  So why yours do is a mystery.

Thanks.  :)

Truth is, there are supposed to be two pictures in that post.   I have now switched to flickr pro for hosting high-res images, such as the ones in this C&W thread.

P.S. I wish I had more TBC progress to report, but it's been a busy term.  All I've managed to accomplish since VanRail is some more ballasting (Walong siding) and some minor JMRI upgrades.  Hopefully the holidays will allow some more progress.

I've gone the route of Flickr too.   Now that things are operational, the progress tends to get much more incremental and "slow", even if it takes the same amount of time.  When you cover the vortex with foam, that will will change the look of things.  The same with Bakersfield.

Finally an update that warrants a few photos.  I (almost) finish ballasting the upper deck mainline, so that released the hold I've had on my favourite part of layout construction: laying down landforms.  You may recall that I previously experimented with vertical foam slabs cut with the (fantastic) Festool foam blade.  A year later, I've switched over to horizontal slabs cut with the same saw blade, but now I'm using a new tool to shape the slabs, a Dremel oscillating tool with a rigid scraper blade:

I like it!  As you can see, it produces a lot of chips, but no dust.  The action of the tool is a bit like carving a turkey with a hair trimmer.  :P

Here is a multi-layer block waiting to be carved: (this is a much-thicker-than-normal stack that forms the hill in the Loop)

A few shots of the Loop shelf in progress:

In the foreground, a section waiting to be built up:

Once I'm happy with the basic contours -- and after we've had one or two ops sessions with the Vortex covered over -- I'll glue them in place, patch the seams, and apply a skim coat to the surface.   Details like exposed rock in the cuts will of course come later.

Thanks for looking.
