... and if you model 1973 like I do this means nothing but I'm guessing some ATSF and BNSF modelers will be pleased.....

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

I do hope the paint colors will come out better than the BNSF GEVOs did,  but nonetheless this is really awesome.

(Time to check on my supply of PB wire  ;D)

I have no logical reason for actually having a pair of BNSF-lettered Warbonnets, I doubt they ever touched the KCS outside of perhaps some regular power-shares on intermodal runs between Alliance and Shreveport, but I just love the GP60M, so I think I'll get a pair anyway.

Weren't these announced a few months ago?   ???   Great to see, nonetheless.

+1.  I only bought 1 BNSF GEVO because of it, whereas I could have used half a dozen.

Yeah, but preorders now available for ATSF (as delivered) and BNSF (HII) in 4 numbers for both the M & B.

Good times!

The ES44DC was a little better, but the good news is that it's something that can be fixed in a future release.

These are a welcome addition to N Scale. The only other offering was the OMI brass version, no? Nice to know I won't have to pay brass prices for these. :)

Cheers!

I will definately have to get a cab and a booster. I kitbashed one usuing a Bachmann Santa Fe Painted high hood GP50. I used the cab from an old Lima FP45. The model wasn't exactally accurate ,but had the look of the prototype. I submitted a construction article with photos to N Scale Magazine .it would have run in maybe issue #2 Hundman even sent me the proof sheet of how it would look in mag. Rail Model Journal (I believe ) ran an article on building one in HO. I sent a letter to the editor at RMJ along with a B&W photo just saying I had bashed one in N. I guess Hundman saw my letter, because my article never was used, and I never wrote to him to find out why. I have two nice resin cast bodies, one for the Cab and one for the Booster I believe the manufacturer was FS Engineering. I never built them.    Nate Goodman (Nato).

Fox Valley have chosen some interesting road numbers for the initial release of Warbonnet GP60Ms.

They really restrict things to the early "as-delivered" era:

113 got BNSF on the long hood in September 1996

129 got BNSF on the long hood in January 1997

152 was wrecked in November 1990

I model ~1999 so I'm going to have to renumber them, or wait for a subsequent release. Thankfully 147 was only patched to BNSF in June 2001, and the B units were only patched on the "short hood"

It's a bit annoying as there are plenty of road numbers that were not re-lettered with BNSF on the long hood. I was surprised to find these three in Kingman Arizona in April this year:

Still I'm sure subsequent releases will cause appropriate pain to my wallet!

I was a bit surprised to see no BNSF sub letter or relettered long hoods.  I would love to hear how mfgs think on something like this, because as it happens, I don't like the Orange/Green scheme on these, and would only buy BNSF sublettered or relettered versions in Red/Silver.  But, I am just one customer.

I know there are always second releases, and maybe they figure any of us interested in the BNSF versions will buy the Orange/Green type now, and wait to buy any BNSF Red/Silver's later, after letting our wallet recover.  I am guessing, however, that after a long wait for these engines, that most of us will buy multiple road numbers, and if we like Red/Silver better, "holding back"  a popular scheme for the second release to boost later sales seems risky, over putting up your probable (IMHO) best selling red/silver schemes first.  Kind of like holding back your best pitcher for a later game in the WS! I think I would put my ace on the mound, but again, I am only one customer.

BTW, are there any of these units in shortline or lease service that might make for interesting paint shcemes in later releases?  I know there is the Marersk scheme, which while a one off, would probably sell pretty well, too.
