The Carolina Southern Division and the Operations Special Interest Group are pleased to announce NC RailRun 2011, to be hosted this year in the Salisbury, NC, area.  The "op til you drop" operating weekend will be held Friday, September 2 through Sunday, September 4, 2011.

Salisbury is a central point for all of the layouts planned for the event, which includes four N scale layouts that host regular operating sessions.  Six operating HO layouts are also on the schedule.  Two of our layouts have been in the model press, both of them N scale.  Michael Pennie's Penn Central Lehigh & Delaware Division was featured in Great Model Railroads.  Scott Teague's Norfolk Southern Pocahontas District was featured in Great Model Railroads and N Scale magazine.  Both railroads have been expanded since they were published.

In addition to being within about an hour's drive of all of the layouts featured in the event, Salisbury's next-door neighbor to the north is Spencer, NC, home to the North Carolina Transportation Museum and the Little Choo Choo Shop.  There are also other historical attractions in the area, as well as nearby shopping destinations for those who do not participate in model railroad operations.  International airports at Greensboro and Charlotte are both 45 minutes to an hour away.
