Laser cut wood decks for Athearn GSC flatcar - project complete

I have a price for laser-cut wood decks designed specifically for the Athearn GSC 53-foot flatcar - $3.25 per set, which includes five prefabricated wood pieces 1/64" thick that replace the standard plastic deck parts on one Athearn flatcar.  The pieces will be produced by The N Scale Architect for ESM, from ESM drawings.  The drawings were based directly off the Athearn parts, with some corrections to the detail made.  There is no minimum quantity requirement on the run.  I suspect that the final quantity required will not be high enough for an additional price break, but I will factor one in if expectations are exceeded.  Shipping charges to individuals will be whatever the actual USPS Priority Mail charges are.

These parts were designed to replace the deck of the general service flatcar.  As an FYI, they probably can be used to upgrade the bulkhead and TOFC versions of the Athearn model - but I have not verified this, and I do not have those models on hand to confirm either way.

Although I will assign an ESM number to this item for accounting purposes (#990201), this is a Railwire offering only and will not be a standard ESM item, otherwise the price per set would be higher.  Everyone who is interested must let me know (preferably via this thread so it is all in one location) what quantities he/she wants by no later than February 18 at 6:00p ET, which should insure the parts are in modelers' hands by the second week of March.  The size of the run will be exactly to whatever is reserved in this thread with no extra sets available, so please plan accordingly.

UPDATE: Shipping charge will be $5.00 via Priority Mail flat rate small video box.  Any international shipments will be the least expensive International Priority Mail option.

I am in for five sets.

Do the decks fit just the flat car, or the version with bulkheads as well?

I don't know how the bulkheads are attached to the frame.  I would think that the wood decks can be modified to accept the additional bulkhead parts.

Bryan,

Put me down for 10.  I have a lot of these cars (and not enough New Rail Models laser cut decks for them), so I might as well equip them all.  This gives me an excuse to paint and decal more Pennsy, Penn Central and Conrail cars.  Thank you for getting these produced.  How do you need paid (Pay Pal, Personal Check, CC)?  Thanks.

Jeff,

Preferably via PayPal, but personal checks or credit cards via PayPal will work as well.  It's going through the company so all of the payment methods will work.  Payment would be due in March when the sets are ready to ship.

Hi Bryan,

Thanks very much for organising this - I've definitely been feeling the loss after New Rail stopped producing their decks!

Please count me in for ten (10).

Cheers,

Stu

Is there anything about these that would preclude me from using them on Atlas flats or in gondolas?  (Athearn car is a tad modern for my tastes...)

Easy enough to check, just take the plastic deck off an Athearn car and see how it would look.  I don't see why the wood decks couldn't be used for other cars.  I did that with existing decks to redo the MTL depressed center flats.
