The B&O  cars are nice, quite common even in the sixties, and hard to find. Will probably get a couple.

"...and I suspect the "Lake" series of GN's is also wrong but I can't find a picture of the kitchen side to confirm."

There are a number of shots for both sides linked to at the Passenger Car Photo Index.  You'd be closer by using the Western diner for the GN's, though filling in a few windows would make it a bit more accurate.

..now why didn't I think of that............. ;D
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Are the pics of the X29s of N scale models or HO? I've never seen these in person and find it hard to believe the N scale models would have separate ladders and grabs, though I'd be happy if they did. I could use some of the CGW cars.

Yeah, the CGW car shown is the HO car.  The easiest way to tell is the false advertising of the door.  The N scale version doesn't have the door shown (which is the correct door for the CGW).  I've tried to explain this to Intermountain but they just don't seem to care.

These are the exact same car you can get for $6 at flea markets except with MT trucks and couplers.  :P

The N scale cars do have molded-in ladders and grabs.  But the tooling is good and the car is still a nice model that fills a void.  I think you'd find the CGW cars acceptable when they are released.

Is it acceptable to have 5 out 6 car numbers be incorrect?

Sure, why not.

It wouldn't be preferable, no.  If that is the case, then fortunately one of the numbers is good.

I would have considered the Amtrak diner if it was painted in Phase III.

Same here; I could have used them on my Lake Shore trains.

I'm going to try and track down one of the Kato 106-011 sets and pilfer the diner from that since it is prototypically correct.  I might leave it in the Phase I scheme and weather it, or apply a MicroScale Phase III stripe.

Of course, a couple of the six-car sets were on eBay last month and went for cheap.  Maybe there will be one in Springfield in a couple of weeks at a reasonable price.

I have a lengthy wish list of older items to procure.  I can't afford to get everything at once should they miraculously be present in Springfield, but perhaps one or two of the items will surface.

I don't know why Mark is slacking off today, but here's the N&W car.  Has the feel of the "eastern" car at least:\

I've definately been slacking. Is the IMRC car different from the Kato SS diner? IIRC the Kato is based on a UP car.

I've got a Kato undec SS diner to foob up for the N&W car, so later this week I'll make a comparison to see if the IMRC might be less of a foob. But the IMRC cars don't have flush windows right? This might be a downgrade if I went with the IMRC, though it would be painted.

On the other hand, IMRC might cancel N&W, so I may resist the IMRC car.

When I first linked to the IM Eastern Diner release page and saw the N&W car illustration I thought that is what IM was basing their car on. It took me a moment to notice the rear vestibule which N&W did not have turns out model is a NYC car. I do think though it will make a better foob N&W stand in and will be already be decorated. Look at the B&W photo posted earlier here in this New Diners thread.           Nate Goodman (Nato). Salt Lake, Utah.

Well for the side IMRC shows the UP (Kato) car is closer to N&W 491-494. But I agree it will make a nice foob. ;D Will have to look at pics of the other side of the NYC proto vs the other side of the N&W car. Will do this later this week.

I've got a case where I already have the Kato car ready to paint - If I didn't I'd go for the IMRC car for sure since Kato SS cars are tough to get these days.

I can't really whine about the IMRC car now can I ? ;)

The red noodle is missing from the art work, hope it gets corrected by the time the car arrives.
