So this is a post-'55 trains with the domes.  Should see some Milwaukee E units from this as well.

Once it was pretty clear that it was going to be the COLA, I had hopes of an early version with E2s.  I think the CNW part of me would have ponied up for that.

Maybe if it was the original  with EMC E-2's, it might approach Doozy status.

I think Kato is just toying with us.  Big build up, then a let down, then..........................POW!

Wait a second here....  There is genius in Kato's mad ways, folks...

This tooling gives them everything (except an inspection car and some tweeks to the roof to put satellite antenna and additional vents, etc) they need to do the Heritage fleet cars.

Now they just need the #844 and the modern E8's...

Sneaky.....

Milwaukee E Units would go with the Hiawatha they'll be announcing in the near future too!

But if you buy this set to convert to a Heritage set - will you end up having to cancel and change your mind in two weeks....

Well, seriously, I don't think I would pre-order this.  If Kato doesn't do something more modern, I'll try to pick one up and sell off the cars I don't need one by one.

It would be interesting to see exactly the cars they are doing though.

I'm sure I'm wrong about the Heritage fleet anyway, but it was nice to dream.

At least did a train I had the pleasure to ride on from Chicago to LA.  Not really interested in getting one thou.   The coaches are a sure bet for some later Amtrak cars.  Did PC get some of these, not sure?  Back to their UP bias again!

Not for me, but I'm happy for the UP fans, who I hope buy this train up in such amounts that Kato has tons of income with which to fund projects that I would be interested in purchasing.

As a wee kid I used to watch the COLA go through my hometown (Roselle, IL 30 miles west of Chicago) with Milwaukee Road power and IIRC sometimes UP locos.

Only 11 more pages to go to exceed the "speculation" thread ;D
Best regards,

Roger

I am happy!  Some unique cars they have not done before.  I can unload my six car set and probably the 4 car set I also have.  At least when it is parked next to my GN EB it will look less like a foobie as the cars won't be identical!  Not my first choice, but I will buy one.  Now the only real question is pick up a second A/B set or just go with a B to add to my A/B.  I sure hope they put the lettering on the nose for UP, unlike their past releases.  I have not been able to locate a photo that documents no UP lettering on the nose of a E9.

n'thing the whole let down. I really wanted to see a Hiawatha with a BiPolar to pull it along... shame. Maybe they can at least letter a few E's for Milwaukee road. Sure its not perfectly accurate but close enough for this guy.
